What is suitable for a devotee?
Radha Kunda Tilak (dark tilak)? Or Gopi Chandan Tilak (lighter tilak)?
And how should a devotee that has to deal with regular non-devotees deal with tilak? And are non-devotees (uninitiated devotees like myself) supposed to wear tilak?

Hare krishna some people are calling black radha kunda tilak demonic they are commiting sin! Black radhakund Kali moti tilak is of nityanand prabhu line ! Don't ever say this ! Please ! Radhakund is most sacred kund of all three worlds ! How it can only be dust! It's the dust where shri krishna baths daily ! One should stick to guru Parampara tilak ! If your gurudev di white tilak then you should also chose white if dark then dark ! Who changes tilak on his own is gurudrohi ! Hare krishna !

In addition to the information found under the links given by Mataji Maral, here is an article entitled "Radha Kunda tilak - Bonafide or not?" discussing whether ISKCON devotees may wear the dark tilak of Radha Kunda:
