Questions related to Lunar Eclipse

Hare Krishna dear devotees, Please accept my humble obeisances, All glories to Srila Prabhupada 🙌

Why during lunar eclipse temples are closed and we are forbidden to perform bhajan? Isnt it that we can perform bhajan in anytime and circumstance?

Why it seems so danger?

I apologize if my question is inappropriate, Hare Krishna .

  • Hare Krishna,

Ancient temples were constructed based on Vasthu and carefully studying the astrology and geomtry.. the main deity is placed in the garbha griha the central place where the energies of the earth's magnetic field, gravitational forces and the sun and moon alignement all are taken into account.  So that the all the power is accumulated ( earth's magnetic forces  at one central point). When the preists chant mantras to invoke the god of a perticular deity they respond to the chantings and they come and become virajmaan there. the God accepts ur prayers and the stone is charged by your mantra chantings.. During Grahana kala.. that stone which is charged so with postive charges is getting depolarized... becuase of loss of alignement... because of imbalance in the forces..

So when positivity is gone.. surely the negative forces will try to occupy those places...

It doesn't mean that you cannot do bhajan or chant during Grahana kala. Infact you must double ur chantings.. to counter the negative forces.

The stone which makes up the deity is washed cleansed.. and then rituals and mantra chantings are done to cleanse all the negative energies that have accumulated during grahana after the grahana cleaning of temple and consecreting the deity again with mantras is done and then again the prana prathisthapana is done to invoke the deity into the vigraha.

Stone is again positively charged with the mantras and the deity is invoked.

During these eclipses... many tantric try to gain powers by doing black magic rituals to invoke bhoot pretas their shaktis' get doubled and they try to occupy the temples. Otherwise they dare not to enter the temple in an ordinary day.

    Hare Krishna.
