    Hare Krsna,
My obeisances to all devotees, guru and gauranga.

Exactly my thoughts too Sagarika mataji. Although rituals and proper procedure has its place in worship, shouldnt a devotee first be more concerned on developing love for Krsna? It just beats me when people question trivial things like this. Are we going to stand there and count the rounds in the mnid than concentrating on the dieties? I'd rather light the diya, offer it to the deities and place it in the altar, at least until I am able to follow the proper procedure.

These rituals and proper procedure is very very important for the priests at the temple. For us, household sadhakas, we should endeavour to chant attentively and do the best we can with the worship procedures.

Please excuse my response. I hold nothing personal against anyone.

    Srila prabhupada ki jai..

      Hare Krsna Prabhuji and Mataji,

      PAMHO.

I am sorry for commenting, but thought that it may help. See, there are all kinds of people in this world and therefore there are all kinds of devotees also. Some feel its important to develop the love in the heart first, some feel that if they do everything as per shastra (they will take pains to find out), then they are more confident that the lord will accept their prayers. So its a matter of nature and what helps someone develop the feelings in the heart. What makes a person sing damodar ashtakam with full love and devotion - one should do.

This number of rounds in different places is also as per shastra only na - otherwise why we are following? And who says proper vidhi should be done only in temple, for householders only feelings are important? Isnt doing arati with feeling important in the temple also?

THe beauty is that the lord accepts both - the one who believes his doing arati with devotion is enough and the one who thinks he should perform arati with full vidhi (and I am sure devotion).

      Haribol,

      Your servant,

Rashmi mataji, appreciate your comments. Please keep this soul in your prayers. Krsna always hears to a devotee's prayers and call.

  • Why you are making it so complex for simple spiritual things.
Just take a ghee lamp and offer to Krishna And tulasi devi.

    Hare Krsna Prabhuji,

    PAMHO.

For Krsna, Yashoda ma and all Vishnu Tattvas (Nrisimha, Gaur Nitai, Jagannath deities), it is 4-2-3-7, as mentioned by you. For all guru parampara, it is 1 or 3 times above the waist. This is for ghee lamp. Having said that, I heard in a lecture by HG Pankaj Angre prabhuji that the act of showing lamp is more important. If you cannot do, or omit to do as mentioned, it is ok. Showing lamp with feeling in heart is more important than count of number of times in different places.

    Haribol,

    Your servant,

    Rashmi
