Question about reading shiv chalisa

Hare Krishna to all the respected devotee and all glories to Swami srila Prabhupada

I wanted to ask that before getting to know about ISKCON , I used to worship lord shiva and I still read shiv chalisa daily, is there a problem with reading it?

Should I stop it , I can if I should, and after stopping reading it what should I do in pooja along with Aarti " jai jagdeesh hare"

  • Hare Krishna,

You should keep doing whatever you do regularly. But your worship for Lord Shiva should be for asking Sri Krishna's bhakti.

If you ask for material things to Lord Shiva then you might get caught into the maya.

You can do demigod worship or even Lord Shiva's worship but the main idea behind doing these types of pooja should be to get Krishna Prema.

Lord Shiva is considered Parama Vaishnava. He is a guru tattva.

If you ask Lord Shiv ji Bhakti and Prema for Krishna He will award you with that as He is bhola shankar.  Those devotees who are going to Lord Shiva should ask Krishna Prema.

You can can continue doing bhakti for Shiv ji not a problem at all.

But it is not required for Vaishnavas, because, once you take shelter of Lord Sri Krishna it means you have covered all demigods.

    Hare Krishna
