Purusottama Adhik Maas Vrata Diet

Dear spiritual God brothers and sisters,

Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. All glories to our beloved Gurumaharaja Srila Jayapataka Swami. All glories to Purusottama Adhik Maas Vrata.

Can someone really answer me in a responsible way what specific diet /not general/ follow in the course of Purusottama Maas Vrata?

Some devotee said they are not allowed to eat vegetables or leafy vegetables.

Some devotee said that no grain or dal are allowed, but basmati rice and mung have given yes.

Some devotee say I only have to eat ekadasi preparations such as potatoes, sweet potatoes, green bananas, buckwheat, no fried food.

Even some leaders of the Bhaktivedanta Manor Temple can not even answer this responsibly.

And it is not possible to find a specific answer on the Internet just by reference to the Caturmasya standard, which is divided into four months.

I only take prasadam boiled potatoes once a day. It's tapasya, but maybe it would be good to enrich this menu?!

I want to please our beloved GM following this promise, but I do not want to oppress Him with these trivial questions.

Can anyone help me in the service for Sri Sri Guru and Gauranga?

Jay Radhe!

Your servant Suvarnavatar das

    Hare Krsna Prabhuji,

    PAMHO.

Sorry for late response. I was not able to access this website for about 10 -12 days.

REgarding Purushottam month vrata, it can be done at various levels:

    1) Eating only once a day

    2) Eating only ekadasi prasadam everyday

    3) No sleeping on bed, sleeping on floor with cloth covering

    4) No oil in food. Use ghee.

    5) Waking up early morning everyday and taking bath in brahma muhurta.

    6) Doing/ attending mangalarati everyday.

    7) Chanting extra everyday.

    8) REading/ hearing lecture everyday on Krsna's pastimes.

    9) Showing ghee lamp to the deities everyday.

    10) Doing tulsi puja everyday.

There are more, but I can remember only these right now.

One can follow any one or all of these, as per convenience.

The important thing is to dedicate this month for spiritual pursuits.

Our guru maharaj's health being what it is, devotees are requested to offer the fruits of their vrata to guru maharaj, though there is no compulsion.

    Haribol,

    Your servant,

    Radha Rasamayi DD
