Proper Procedure Of Shradh

Hare Krishna! My Dandvats Pranam To All.

Humbly requesting you to give the proper procedure of Shradh and For How long do we have to give food to the cow especially after the 1st year. I see people continuously offering food to the cow for years as many as 20. It would be even better if you could give references from authentic scriptures. Thanks

Apologies that my English is not good

  • Oh, the intricacies of ritual! Shradh ceremonies seem steeped in layers of tradition. Feeding the cow for 20 years straight after the first year? That is some serious dedication. Unraveling these post-funeral rites requires patience. Scripture references would certainly clarify things, wouldn't they? I once struggled to understand the timings in geometry dash a particularly tricky custom at a family wedding and felt just as lost!

    • Yes that's the reason I asked. Are we really going the right way!

      • Hare Krishna don't talk to spammers. Waste of time

  • Hare Krishna,

    https://iskcondesiretree.com/forum/topics/relevance-of-performing-s...

go thru this Q and answers you will get information regarding performing Shradh.

Feeding cows for sake of pitr's on an amavasya day is good for an year.

Any other feeding cows should with love for the animal..not for some ulterior benefit.

As per Our Vaishnavaite Philosophy we offer all satvik food as bhoga to satisfy Sri Vishnu not for pleasing pitrus.

When Vishnu is satisfied every jiva is satisfied.

Remember one time Sri Krishna visits the Pandavas while they were in Vanavasa.  That time when Lord came the Pandavas were just done having their meals. Draupadi felt sad that there was nothing there left out to offer to Lord. But Lord says go search in the mud pot  there is one grain of rice there get me that .. Draupadi said it is just one grain of rice it wont be sufficient for You. Lord  says just give that one grain and partakes it and after He took that One grain He belched and with that whole Brahmanada felt fullness and was satisfied.

So, we don't do any offering to the Pitrus also it is okay but all offering should be done to please Vishnu and after offering to Vishnu offer the bhojan to qualified Vaishnavaite devotees and there after to a cow.

The cows ( contain in them all 33 crore demigods) all of them are pleased then you also can partake as all Pritus are also pleased as they feel fullness too as Lord Vishnu and His devotees and His cow is fed.

    • Ok nice that link was very useful. Does Iskcon help in doing shradh ritual if required in future?

      • I think so.

you must go to a iskcon temple and ask them directly.

here we are practising devotees who are trying to help each other if we have any doubts in shastras.

not really a pandit ji's here.
