      Hare Krsna Neha Mataji,

      PAMHO.

When you sit to study, tell Krsna that this is my prescribed duty, to study, and I want to study as a service to YOu. Therefore, I will study now with full due diligence and sincerity and I give you the results of my efforts.

Then you should not be attached to the results. If you do exceedingly well in studies, you think it is Your doing Krsna, I did this studies as a service to You and You have been so merciful as to glorify me, your devotee by giving me such excellent marks.

If you do exceedingly badly in studies, you think thank You Krsna for giving me such bad marks. This way, I will work harder to get pass marks or good grades. This is teaching me that if to pass one stupid exam, so much effort is needed, then to pass the test of clearing the material world and coming back home, back to You would require so much more effort and You are teaching me to focus nicely and do the effort of not only passing this exam, but of passing the final exam at the time of death. (antakale ca mamaiva, smaran muktva kalevaram - whatever thought one has at the end of one lifetime, is the yoni or life form that the jivatma will go to in the next birth).

Anything in between, I think you have understood what I am trying to say and how to relate everything to Krsna and serve Him in all respects and conditions.

To answer your original question, when we do anything for the pleasure of the lord, it is devotional service. When we do anything to maintain our body or situation in life, as per scriptures, is prescribed duty. The trick is to convert prescribed duty into devotional service.

      Haribol,

      Your servant,

      Rashmi
