Prasadam Problem

Hare Krishna devotees,

How do you make arrangements for prasadam in below situations in grihasta life?

- Going on office field trips for 3-4 days or sometimes a week. Going to foreign countries for education or migrating to a new country for work. Any prasadam that lasts long for 3-4 days? Or better ideas?

- Attending home/office functions like formal lunches, marriages or birthdays/feasts at (non-devotee) relatives place where you are invited and you have to compulsorily go.

Thanks in advance,

YS

    Hare Krsna Prabhuji,

    PAMHO.

ISKCON has centres everywhere. If one is going for tour, pls see if there is a centre in that place. If yes, try to source prasadam from there, atleast one meal a day. If they have some packed prasadam for sale, buy and have for the other meals. THis includes abroad - go to www.iskconcentres.org and check whether there is a branch where you are going, and how feasible it is to source prasadam from there everyday. To the extent possible, try this way. Else, network and find out if any devotee family will host you when you are in their city for prasadam. In this option, be prepared to reciprocate when any devotee visits your city.

To attend home/ office functions, we try to keep the eating to minimum or nil. Marriages most devotees attend with their lunch dabbas, unless it is a devotee marriage. For outstation marriages and fucntions, to the extent possible, keep the eating to minimum. Eat only veg food without onion garlic. Say Namo Vishnu thrice before eating.

One thing that can be done, but not as a practice is - keep offered tulsi with you in a dabba. Before eating, put the offered tulsi leaf in the food and eat.

Each person has to find out his way, what suits him best. To the extent possible, we try to follow.

Devotees are in the habit of carrying theplas, mathari, dry sweets and snacks with them wherever they travel. If we make the effort, Krsna also helps, that is for sure.

    Haribol,

    Your servant,

    Radha Rasamayi DD
