Hare KrishnaPAMHO. AGTSP.I am suffering from great association problems. I am a student and stay at hostel. The nearest ISKCON temple is 70kms from here and have no devotees with me. People here are totally materialistic. I tried to explain them about KCON, but rather than understanding they were like you are wrong and worshiping KRSNA or worshiping Shiva is same. I gave a lot of explanation on this but they started making fun of me. One guy told that your ISKCON is just a medium for converting black money to white money and ask them to present their balance sheet. Moreover they always say that who has seen life after death, so why should we believe in all this. I tried not to have KCON discussion with them but still they always tell something about KRSNA and ISKCON and am unable to control my self. I told them to read BHAGVAD GITA or books written by Srila Prabhupada, so they said why should we? Because of them am unable to concentrate on my chanting alsoWhat shall i do?Plz help.......

i also faced lot of these negatives..dont mind it,they have no intelligence to recogbise the importance of satsang..be brave and do ur duties and prayer.the attitudeof thoose were change when difficulties happen in life..ji,blieve this,u will surely see the conversion of ur friends to krishna bhakti in future.our lord is trying to make u bold and steady in k.c.these are the procedures of that.
be alert that,u must notdown a single step from k.c because of ur materialistic frinds.jai krishna..be proud of k.c..god will save u..
Prabhu, I can empathize with your situation. The best solution is to move away and stay alone. Jana sanga which can change your devotion is to be avoided. You can discuss with a senior devotee in you congregation to see if you can arrange an accomodation where regular satsangs happen. Ignorantly many people speak various things about Krsna, Krsna consciousness and also about ISKCON. If you are currently not well equipped to speak on the basis of shastras to give them the right answers, it is better to avoid the topic or their association.

When mAya is strong we should deepen our devotion. To start with, continue to chant the mahAmantra more (one additional round everyday). Continue to think of krshnA and pray to Him to help you handle the mAya around you. Soon, you'll see changes in your friends and when they show interest, take the chance to spread KCOM and talk about AcharyA and his books. Till then, the more you discuss with them, you'll notice that they become more determined to distract you rather than changing themselves. As a devotee, your first duty is to save your devotion. It may help you to read Narada maharishi's Bhakti SutrAs which gives guidance on how to nurture the bhakti seed. Rest, krshnA will take care.
