we cannot overcome the effects of our bad deeds by doing good deeds.good deeds will not erase the bad deeds.good deeds will not reduce the effects of bad deeds.
but krishna concious activities overcome the effects of our bad deeds.
definitely good deeds will reduce effect of bad deeds , that is why it is recommended to give charity, do sacrifice, fasting, penance, austerity. but most of time one need to face token .
Actually good and bad both comes under influence of maya, we don't do anything nor we suffer it is ignorance real happiness when we be K.C.
The law of Karma is very difficult to understand and predict. However, we know some of the principles of it from scriptures. The good will not erase the bad. However, the good deeds we do now will be accumulated in our quota of Karma and can be used after this life either by getting entry to heavenly planets or better material comforts in our next life. If we continue bad activities then we will have to suffer for it in hell after this life and latter be put in horrible conditions of lower species.
No matter what we do, we are bound to be stuck in the cycle of birth and death and remain in the material world. The only way out of this cycle is to become a devotee of Krishna and offer the fruits of all our activities to Him. This is called aakarma meaning no karma. This is detailed in BG as Karma Yoga in KC in Ch 5.
Also, what I have heard from senior devotees is that when one surrenders to Krishna, his sufferings which are of the size of a hugh Meru mountain is condensed to the size of a small mustard seed size. For example according to my bad Karma, I was supposed to loose my leg, due to surrendering to Krishna it could be reduced to a small scratch or a wound or something. HH RNSM says in one of the lectures that a devotee's consciousness should be in such a way that he thinks that all the good things that happen is because of unlimited mercy of Lord for which we are not qualified. If something bad happened to us, then we should think that we deserved more than this and Krishna has made it soo small for us out of His love.

Hare Krishna dear Devotees, please accept my humble obeisances! all glories to Srila Prabhupada!
good bad good bad again good bad. in this way we take birth again in this world.
for Krishna Conscious person there is nothing good and bad in this world. For example, Chitraketu Maharaja was a Devotee who lived very opulent - good life. But once he was cursed by Mother Parvati to take birth as a Demon -bad thing. But he accepted it with humble heart.
But indeed that bad thing helped him to come as quickly as possible to his beloved Lord Sankarshana.
in the next life he took birth in a Demon's body as Vritrasura. and was killed by Indra and went back to Godhead.
In this way if one is practicing Krishna Consciousness chanting the Holy Names of Krishna no need to worry of bad and good karmas. even bad karma will push him towards Krishna.
Hare Krsna. PAMHO. No as much i know the good deeds never destroy bad deeds. The complex laws of Karma are very difficult to understand as told by Krsna in BG 7.14. It is only the principle that can be understood. As far as your question good deeds will produce good results and bad will produce bad. But both implicate in the cycle of fruitive actions . Only by action for Krsna we can transcend both good and bad because we work on an absolute platform since Krsna is absolute.
It is said that devotional service to Lord Krsna is so powerful that it destroys the snakes of sinful desires from our heart.
So to summarize good deeds never offset bad ones but by working for Krsna we transcend both good and bad and work for the ultimate perfection of our life.
