Parikrama with Pet

Hare Krishna Prabhu ji's and Mata ji's

PAMHO

Last year me and my family had a 2 days visit to Vrindavan Dham, we were not able to explore every thing.. but we had a parikrama of Goverdhan hill... we left our pet dog in pets hostel in noida for two days.. and we were in contact with the owner of the hostel and he was  sending my pet pics to us and his vedios too but after a lot of argument wtih him coz he was not willing to...previously he said he will regulary be sinding our pet vedios and pics to us but he was not.... i dont know what they did with my doggie.. he was not able to recognize us even, when we came back, his tale was not wagging...and he was tied very tight and was kept in a cage...they might have beaten him very badly.. he was in such a shock that after two days with us he came to normal...I am very much willing for vrindavan visit once again.. but cannot take  a risk of keeping my pet dog in hostel..I cannot trust any hostel now

If possible can i take my pet also in vrindavan?? is there any hotel or any dham where my pet can stay with us.. he can also do parikrama with us...just for one or two hours he can b left alone when we do temple visit....  or taking our pet with us is not a good idea ???? in vrindaban too there are lot of street dogs..... let my pet also get some mercy of lord krishna...

Can you please advise me... thanks...

Your Humble servant

Amit Mehra

  • That is Horrifically Awful as to the animal abuse that your poor dog was victim to. Did you report it to the police and animal welfare people that are hopefully enforcing animal protection laws at that location??? Thankfully your pet was alive and there when you returned ! ! !  I am not familiar at all with where you reside, however, NO MATTER where you reside and travel NEVER leave an animal in the care of people who you are not well knowledgeable of and are 300% SURE THAT THEY ARE TRULY RELIABLE, RESPONSIBLE, SAFE AND LOVING TO ANIMALS ! ! ! It is BEST TO STAY HOME WITH YOUR ANIMALS/PETS and NOT TRAVEL at all away from them if you do not have 300% FOR SURE TRULY RESPONSIBLE, SAFE AND RELIABLE AND LOVING PEOPLE TO CARE FOR THEM ! ! !   This world is FULL of ANIMAL ABUSERS/NEGLECTERS AND THEY ARE EVERYWHERE AND THEY ARE PREDATORS AND CAN TRICK YOU INTO THINKING THAT THEY ARE SAFE AND LOVING AND RESPONSIBLE WITH ANIMALS BUT THEY ARE NOT ! ! ! !

  • There is a physical law, that a personality sanding upon a high place can easily be pulled down from there by a personality standing on a lower level, but for a/the person standing on the high place it will be very difficult to pull (up) the personality standing on the lower level.
In the same way "yoseeSose" we are what we are 'Sri Chatonya"
(KC) is as I understand it not a nominal but a phenomenal experience. I just think that knowingly
(Cleaving) to creations that according to all scepters are Tomas in nature? Not welcom in the heavens
    Etc. Etc.? What's the point?
    • Prabhu... you are correct.

As harsh as it may sound... "you cant have a dog in a house and do yagnas (or any such auspicious activities) and be successful..." This is the very reason bramhanas do not accept dogs as pets. If they accept them, they do not keep them in their home. ALWAYS outside... But things have changed these days... cows are abandoned, dogs are adored... the sad truth....

Please dont take it as a condescending statement... but we are what we are... a cow is what it is... and a dog is what it is...

Touching and caressing a Cow is purifying... while doing the same for a dog is dragging one down...

      I got another idea...

Why not take your pet to vrindavan and tie it in your hotel/PG room and let it stay there. (You go in the morning after giving it food and water sufficient till evening). You can come back in the evening. This way you wont have any interruptions to your devotional activites and you also dont have to think about your dog's well-being....

Your dog will get dham residing merit and you will get parikrama merit :))) You will not have any disturbance/worry in your mind..

      win.. win...

P.S. : If you think you are an advanced devotee and beyond this... kindly ignore whatever I said... I consider myself fallen and have written here so far based on the understanding received through life experiences of a fallen soul. Kindly remember that before making your judgement.

      •  Sai Karthik I DISAGREE WITH YOU COMPLETELY AND AM HORRIFIED TO READ WHAT YOU WROTE ! ! ! SHAME ON YOU ! ! ! !

        • Prabhu. :-)

There is really no reason whatsoever to be angry with me :))) You're feeling for the pain and abuse suffered by dogs. I'm feeling for the pain and abuse being suffered by cows. Just look around you... how many beef items to you see in your nearby supermarket? How much % of population in the US consumes beef ? You dont need to answer here... just ask yourself...

I'm a deep lover of cows and it makes me mad when cows are being killed and eaten in such an industrial scale. Keeping aside the resourcefulness of cows and dogs aside... When I was a child, I used to give away 3/4 th of the sweets that my father brought home to street dogs. LOL....

As I grew up, by Lord's mercy I got association of cows and developed some love for them. Not all cows like me... (heck... even the Lord is hated by some people on earth... take for example Sisupala). Some like to come to me and hang around... One person cant do much... The beef business is picking up in India too in the recent times and as an individual I must say that I'm ashamed that I couldn't do much about it. I dont have the power and money needed to stop that.. So yes, you are right in saying that I should be ashamed.

So, I'm an animal lover too :)))

Prabhu, you should someday visit Vrindavan and feel the warmth and love when you touch cows :-) and caress them.(some are not going to be friendly... so be watchful...) and when you visit Vrindavan, you should take a piece of paper and write down 1-20.

Visit 20 NATIVE temples in Vrindavan and ask the temple pujari.. if it is okay to keep a dog in home. Dont take anything I wrote seriously... just go ask them. Write down Yes, No and HELL NO in three columns...

If you dont get the response "HELL NO" from atleast 10 temple pujaris... COMPLETELY IGNORE whatever I said...

Afterall... I'm just another fallen soul... and yes.. I'm ashamed to live in this state...

          • Hare Krsna Sai Karthik, Thank you for your reply and I want to start out with saying it was not my intention to offend you with my response to your statements, rather, to stand up and speak up for non-human animals of all species. I am a long time animal advocate with strong compassion for ALL animals. My heart, soul, and mind are in perpetual grief for, e. g., cows, pigs, sheep, rabbits, dogs, cats, monkeys, elephants, bears, horses and ALL other non-human animals. I am vitally and hauntingly aware of the countless forms of animal abuse/neglect that is perpetrated upon defenseless innocent animals at the hands of cruel human beings and supported by indifferent and cruel human beings. The fact that I was/am speaking up and standing up for the writer's dog does NOT mutually exclude my very same compassion and advocacy for cows and ALL other animals. What deeply concerns me about the Krishna Consciousness Movement is that devotees and those who lead the movement are supporting the cruel dairy industry and perhaps other animal cruelty and exploitative industries by not being a movement that is Vegan! Clearly, the cow's milk that is purchased extremely frequently by devotees is the product of the horrifically cruel diary industry which includes cows being kept inhumanely and cruely pregnant and beyond words full of milk and when the cow gives birth to her calves they are brutally ripped from her and the mother cow and her babies are immediately separated and the calves are not allowed to drink her milk.  There are video exposes on the internet that are gut wrenchingly heart breaking and infuriating.  The use of the calves are for veal (locked in small crates so that their muscles do not develop) and many times the calves are starved so that they are easier to skin alive for their leather.  I will stop here with the graphic horrific truth of supporting the dairy industry involves.   I will follow this post with links to a group that refers to themselves as Hare Krishna and who are promoting Veganism, and also to an article urging Hare Krishna's to Go Vegan.  https://www.facebook.com/veganharekrishnasociety/

          • Hare Krishna prabhu ji......

            PAMHO!!!

cows not doubt is a holy animal... but plz don't differentiate between animals... all animals are innocent like a child.. and I think it is one of the responsibility of the human to help himself to achieve  lords mercy AND the soul too who have been degraded to animal yoni.... and I love cows too I want to caress them too but they try to hit me every time when I go closer to them :P  Our gods too have animals as their vehicles, so m sorry but I cant see any animal as a untouchable esp doggies whose heart is always filled with love and only love....  m just giving my friendly opinion, correct me if m going wrong.

            • Hare Krsna Amit, I very much and completely agree with you and I highly appreciate how you feel and your higher consciousness concerning compassion and love for ALL of Krishna's non-human animals including the recognition that dogs are FULL of pure innocent unconditional Love!!!  They are the purest  of souls and need us to fend for and protect them and show them Love and Kindness!!! Thank you so much for your compassionate heart for ALL non-human animals ! ! !  Hare Krsna, Compassion

            • Prabhu...

I really dont know what to say... I will remain silent from here on... If you think that I'm your enemy... you are seeing it from a completely wrong angle... It is better that you visit nearby ISKCON temple, make some devotee friends and seek guidance. What one can discuss in a forum is limited... and after a while it looks like an argument with no conclusions whatsoever...

I dont want this to head that way...

Honestly... this discussion need not be given more importance anymore... This is very minor issue...

But one final thing I will say is... 'A cow can help in the process of ''ascension''... but a dog.... hm... questionable... i just dont know... how it can help me in this process...

There is a reason why Prabhupad referred to ''dogs and cats'' and also referred to''cows'' in his lectures. The point to understand is... why did he refer to dogs and cats at certain places in his lectures... and why did he refer to cows... may be I understood a little... may be I did not... you too try this process of listening to his lectures and understand yourself better...

I have no inclination/interest to 'debate' here. This should not be a matter to debate. Whatever needs to be listened to and to be understood is already available in iskcondesiretree.

              All the best.

              • Prabhu ji

neither I was arguing nor I was fighting with u, I feel extremely happy when I see other devotees then y would u consider u as my enemy, I was just putting my friendly opinion, that this is what I feel towards animals... I don't know where I sound rude that u felt so bad... m really sorry if u felt bad...... but I just put my point coz the soul which is present in us is also present in animals.....

                Hare Krishna :)
