Parents forcing me to eat non-veg food

Radhe Radhe!

Please help me out. My parents are making me to eat non-veg food. I am trying my level best to not eat but I am failing at it because of my parents. I even cried and refused but my mother forced food in me. She is hitting me as I am refusing to eat. She said she will never allow this to happen. She thinks due me bhakti I changed a lot and she also thinks that I keep on praying so she removed most of the God photos that hung in our house. She threatend me that if I don't eat non-veg, she will not keep diya to God. In recent circumstances I manged to convince her that if I make into an IIT or NIT she said she will agree to my decision but she also said that I have to eat non-veg untill my exams.
What am I supposed to do? Am I suppose to eat non-veg untill the exams but thinking of it is making me even more sick. I seriously don't want to eat. Please help me out.

        • Even I am also in the same problem my parents are forcing me so much,  though I am very good in my academics if I won't eat non veg they say that they will not talk with me and not ask anything from me (my father) I am still 16 years ,I am scared that if they stop my education..all my relatives are scolding my parents that I left non veg . They say till i become independent, that is during marriage u take ur own decisions till then u are under our control. They say in our family no one worships Krishna., according to our culture we have to eat meat .but they know that I will not become a Sanyasi but also they force me.i am praying to Krishna every day. My family has given me time to think and say till this November .what should be my decision. Pls help me with this situation. Hare Krishna

        • Radhey Radhey Prabhu ji!

Thank you very much for taking time to help me.🙏🙏🙏🙏

  • Hare Krishna Mata ji!

    PAMHO

    radhey radhey!

Don't worry mata ji, krishna puts us in these situations only if he knows we will get benefitted in our spiritual life from it.  infact there is a saying

"be born in favourable circumstances for bhakti and you'll gradually progress, don't be born in favourable circumstances for bhakti, and you'll become a pure devotee"

this is because when we aren't able to do bhakti, our want to please Lord krishna and radha rani increases and we push ourselves to do more.

i would suggest you to focus on your studies and at the same time be steady in your devotion, also, once you turn 18, you can tell your parents that from now on you can even decide the future of your country (by voting) so you can certainly decide what goes in your stomach (i will pray for your 18th birthday to come asap)

but remember one thing mata ji, the way in the story of gajendra, it was a huge fight that lasted for several days (between gajendra and the crocodile), this fight of not eating non veg will also be huge! but all you have to do is be firm, respect your parents still and pray to lord krishna and radha rani for help.

for now, keep your studies as the main thing. study as hard as you can, crack IIT/NIT if a materialist can do it, a devotee definitely can! everything is going to be fine don't worry, just how if a grass is dry, it burns quickly while a grass that is wet takes time to burn, some people will straight away like your devotion while some people will take time. my parents alo in the start were scared that i'll run away from the house and stop all studying after coming to bhakti (a common public notion) but after a few months, they were fine with it and realised that i haven't left my studies. your parents might take longer than this but trust me, it will happen that one day when seeing you, they will ask if you completed your rounds or not... my parents do now, and previously, i feared they won't like it!

    all the best!

    Hare Krishna!

    • Radhey Radhey!

Thank You very much for your reply.

So in the end, am I suppose to eat it till I am independent?😥

      • Hare Krishna Mata ji!

Mata ji, try to stop it little by little, say like prince prabhu ji said, only take the rasa part. remember that you are trying your best... krishna wants only that. you said that your parents hit you, so please take these steps carefully

        Hare Krishna!

        • If your parents are violent, don't fight with them but pray to Sri Nrsimhadev, just like Prahlad M.

You can also try avoiding beef/pork for the time being and limit other meat as well. I was in the same situation with my family.
