Pain in lowerback during Japa

Hare Krishna Prabhu Ji / Mata Ji

Sometimes when I sit for Japa - let's say after 2 - 3 rounds I feel pain in my lower back. What could be the reason for the same - is it due to that I don't have the practice to sit for a long time? Please guide me as sometimes it blocks my way to enjoy that moment to connect with Lord Krishna.

Thank you!

    Hare KRsna Prabhuiji,

THe regulation is chant 16 rounds of mahamantra attentively. The regulation is not to sit on the floor and chant. There are no rules for how to chant - one can be standing, walking, sitting on floor or mat or chair - as long as one is able to concentrate on chanting.

Please chant in comfortable position or change your position while chanting.

Regarding lower back pain, join a yoga class or consult a doctor.

    your servant,

  • Hare Krishna,

@Pankaj Prabhu Regulations must be observed, but in exceptional cases, they are secondary. I have seen many devotees facing this issue, and so until cured they usually prefer a chair which becomes more comfortable for japa.

Take good care of your health!

  • Hare Krishna prabhu ji,

well true, ageing process is so tough on joints. long time sitting at one position on place makes the joints still. so, just change the position for sometime or stand up and walk a bit, while walking you can continue chanting also. Have you tried taking your blood tests for calcium, vit D ..If not take an appointment with a doctor to rule out deficiencies. As most of us are sitting at home these days since lockdown for almost a year or so.. Vit. D levels are falling. How is B12 also you need to know .. consult a doctor and take necessary medications.

    Hare Krishna.
