Best way to avoid non veg addiction is to avoid association of meat eaters.

At least do not dine with them, if you cannot avoid their company all together.

Close your ears if anyone mentions the word meat, as it a considered a bad work, by most Sri Vaishnavas

We in ISKCON use the word, as if its just another word in the English language.

Chanting Maha mantra, Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare

Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare, with feeling and emotion, begging

Krishna to engage you in His service will purify us and take away the desire to eat non veg.

As one chants, Kritan, Japa, one gets purified and automatically and loses desire to eat meat.

Eating meat makes a person less mercyfull. Makes one's heart like stone, not caring for other's sufferings.

Satyam, Saucham, Tapas and Daya are the four pillars of Dharma.

    (Truthfullness, Cleanliness, Austerities and Mercy)

This is the nature of a first class person in Satvic mode.

Inattentive chanting is the biggest problem we all have. It is a Namaparad and makes us lose taste for the Holy Names.

We dont progress if we continue this nonsense. Thats where lies the problem for most people.

    • Hare Krishna.

We don't consume Garlic or Onions; because Lord Krishna doesn't want us to.

That Simple.  We are devoted to His Tastes.

      Now, scripture aside...

Garlic & Onions make the body stink.

If you consume pungent foods with Garlic &/or Onions, then make sure you don't do it on a day you plan to dance at the Temple.. or attend a devotee gathering.

It's just polite to avoid the pungent smells when you go to a gathering.

I used to sing Opera (yup, I was an Opera Singer.. really cool career!)--

Trust me, nobody wants to take a deep-breath to sing on-stage, and then discover the person next to them is "odiferous"!! :)  It's hard enough to sing Opera; so having "smelly air" to breathe-in while singing is even more stressful.
