Hare Krishna 2 All !!
I have been reading Prabhupada books and Chanting 16 rounds almost daily since last 1 year.
(By Almost i mean 355+ days out of 365 days). I follow 4 regulative principles since last 10+ years.
I try to help other's and try not to do anything wrong. In short i live in mode of goodness always.
But still I don't get conviction to accept a Guru, I don't want to wear Kanti Mala, wear Dhoti or put tilak. I don't get conviction for these things .
I have faith in Krishna, put i don't get conviction to accept a Guru !!
I do think in my heart i love Prabhupada and i don't like formal initiation. Although i am ready to support Iskcon for lifetime, but i am very much hesitant for initiation .
What to do ? Senior Devotee's plz throw some light on this topic, please enlighten me .

association will develop love for person the Guru Maharaja. observing and reading about Initiating devotee (Swamis) and one will develop relation. improve sadhana. i believe when one serves then one develops love for that person then one need to make official relation and one has to crush EGO if it is coming in between.

Sravanam Kirtanam Vishnu i.e chanting,hearing,remembering are the initial stage of devotional service. But there are 64 devotional processes which gradually elevates a Sadhaka to the highest stage that is Prema-Bhakti (spontanious love for Krishna) . If we dwell only in the initial stage (chanting,hearing remembering) then we would never able to reach the highest stage. so in that way how many years how many days may we keep our self in same pace and not try to progress further we will have to take another birth. After obtaining faith in the path we need to water the root of the bhakti tree,else the tree will die oneday.
If we really want mercy of Prabhupada then we have to physically serve his mission by action , when action is performed by soul mind and speech to serve pure vaisnavas then only the dust particles stuck in our heart in the form of lust,greed,anger,envy...etc get removed else there is no possibility.
so yes we need Diksha Guru if we really want to achieve the ultimate goal. we can take time to decide the appropriate time to take initiation but the willingness should be there, if we have pessimistic attitude regarding this then the end goal will be never attained.
A sadhaka must remember sadhana is the path to attain siddhi and become siddha. To be a siddha purush we have to just follow the instruction of our Guru.

Still i don't agree to accept Guru only to prove that my heart is not full for envy to Krishna or i don't want to criticize other's is not justified .
I love Prabhupada and I can die for him , but i don't feel attraction to Guru's after him in Iskcon !! , its that simple . It is not i don't want to accept a Guru , i am ready to accept a guru, no issues in it .
My point was I don't want to have any present Diksha Guru from Iskcon , but i love Srila Prabhupada the most . I don't have any attraction for any other present Guru.
There are several other BONAFIDE MATHAS and i can turn towards them too , but my question is that I want to stay with Iskcon and have Prabhupada as my Guru .
I am sorry, if i am being offensive to anyone.

Prabhu jee, I am in similar situation. More I listen to Prabhupada, more I am inclined to him. But as it is said: in the Srimad-Bhagavatam
(11.9.31)
na hy ekasmad guror jnanam
su-sthiram syat su-puskalam
"One certainly cannot get complete knowledge from only one guru."

THE ROOT OF OUR PROBLEMS IS THAT WE THINK THAT WE ARE GOD.
We do not want to serve, it seems that we are serving but in the reality our heart is full for envy to Krishna.
we find faults in others, we criticize other Devotees it means we are envious to them. And until we become free from envy we will crawl in this world life after life.
to say that other Devotees do not preach or give lectures which inspire us it means we think we are better then them.
And to accept Srila Prabhupada as an only Guru means: "oh how nice He is far away, and in the photo He always smiles, so nice, i can do whatever my mind says me to do".
THAT IS ALL! THERE IS NO ANY OTHER REASON FOR IT.

In our Parampara Lord Chaitanya Himself. But we did not stop in Him as an only Guru. From Him come down 6 Goswamis, then Jaganatha Das Babaji Maharaja, Bhaktivinod Thakur, ....we did not stopped. then why we think we have to stop???
Srila Prabbhupada's and all the previous acharyas' photos will remain the same up to 10 000 years. Srila Prabhupada is the Founder Acharya. but the knowledge will flow from His Disciples, again their disciples....

The original guru is Krsna, His disciple is Narada, whose disciple is Vyasa. This is why Guru Puja is known as Vyasa Puja. Then others followed and we came to Srila Prabhupada in course of time. One who knows the importance of Guru parampara only knows that Krsna preaching can be described by Narada only and then thru Vyasa rishi. This is the essence. But if you do not feel like getting initiated by anyone else, then find someone closest to your image of a Guru, someone who is convincing for your mindset. But do not say no due to your ego, that is my only point. In fact, anyone can be Guru only when he accepts Krishna as his Guru. So have no doubt, just walk step at a time.

You accept Srila Prabhupad as your Guru, who is a pure devotee of the Lord. That is the most perfect thing we can do in our lives. Srila Prabhupad is the only diksha guru..

as like Christians accepted Jesus Christ as an only Guru and finished! Now they live very happily life visiting Temple once a week or once in a month.
True knowledge flows from heart to heart, param para, param para...
As like all the Devatas have their own vehicles like Lord Brahma has Hamsa, Lord Shiva Buffalo, Lord Vishnu Garuda....and in this way Sri Nama Prabhu also has His own vehicle and that is:
THE HEART OF A DEVOTEE!
We can get Krishna only from Devotees there is no other way. And to say that to accept Srila Prabhupada as an only Guru then we disobey His orders.
Guru means "heavy". If we do not have Guru physically present in the Earth then we won't have strength to do our Devotional service. Guru by being heavy to us cultivate in us power, strength.
As like a bird inside the egg is already tiny formed bird but if we broke the egg before time then we will find that bird can not fly. It means while the bird inside the egg he trains his wings while trying to broke the egg. and when wings become enough strong he brakes that and can fly.

Dear Prabhujis, it depends on our goal. If we want really to achieve love for Krishna as early as possible then we will become a obedient servant of our Guru whose Guru is Srila Prabhupada.

Diksha means future disciples requests Guru to accept him as his disciple and if the student is qualified then Guru gives word to accept him and take him to Spiritual World. If someone can speak with Srila Prabhupada and if He says that He will accept us then we can take initiation from Him, no problem.
But our problem is we can not see Him, in order to see Him we have to go to Spiritual World.

to accept Srila Prabhupada as a Guru it means to obey to his instructions:
He told that one should inquire about the real Truth by rendering humble service to a bona fide Guru in the disciplic
succession. Diksha Guru means the personality who sees our faults and giving advices and orders trains us. One can not achieve love for Godhead by only reading books and listening lecture recordings. No. These things are very important but accepting Diksha Guru is also is very important. They can not survive without each other.

From time immemorial we have now billion sliced BOLD EGO!!!
and it is not so intelligent to think that for all 355 days we can remove it. These 355 days are nothing comparatively to our live span in this universe.
When nly Devotees purify their hearts they will see the reality that they do not have a tinge of faith in Krishna. They cry and suffer that they do not have even a shadow of faith in Krishna. what to speak of us who are like new born babies in Krishna Consciousness!?
