Hare Krishna Mata ji,

O best among the Bharatas [Arjuna], four kinds of pious men render devotional service unto Me—the distressed, the desirer of wealth, the inquisitive, and he who is searching for knowledge of the Absolute.(7.16 BG)

I am wondering who are you among these 4 categories of people mentioned by Lord.

a. Are you the distressed ? ( like druapadi or Gajendra)

b. Are you desiring wealth?

c. Are you inquisitive? ( like Dhruva)

d. Are you seeking the knowledge of Absolute truth? ( Uddhav or Bhishma)

Which one is you?

What is the main purpose of your chanting?

ya, chanting will no doubt nullify the sins. But is that what for you are chanting for?

If you are calling out your mother what for you may call her. Let us say you are in USA and your mother is in India and you call her after a period of 6 months.

a. I am hungry give me food?

b. pls. help I am in danger? I am distressed I am unable to cope up with these situations in life I am worried. ?give me some direction as you are better knowing and wiser than me.

c. Mother, I miss you.

d. I am sick I need you to take care of me.

Which one will you say first to her?

Pls. put those in order of priority :- ( after 6 months you are calling you mom.. you didn't get time all these months.. lets suppose)

Mother can do all things whatever you ask for Because She loves you. But do you love her? then what is the first thing that comes into your mind when you are calling her after so many month's of gap:-

If I were you.

I would first say:-

1. Mom, I miss you.

Your chanting has no aarthi.( aarthi means eagerness to see Krishna) or eagerness to know him or eagerness to know the absolute.. or eagar to see Krishna ( because it has been 84 lakh life times you haven't got to see HIM).

chanting without eagarness or with eagarness results are surely going to come.. as A WILDFIRE IF YOU TOUCH KNOWINGLY OR UNKNOWINGLY IT WILL SURELY BURN DOWN ALL THE SINS. But tell me don't you feel eagar to know Krishna HOW He has been all this while without you?

The Lord is known as bhāva-grāhī janārdana because He takes the essence of one's devotional mentality.

In whatever way you show or seek He responds to you that way.

If you say I love you. He will reply as I love you too.

If you say..I want to nullify my sins .. He will say okay and cleanse you of all sins.

If you say I need you to be with me.. He will say I am with you.

So you must be careful to chose what you want from Krishna.

We are calling the Jagannatha ( ruler of the Brahmanda) The Supreme Personality of Godhead. You ask HIM hey can you give me 10 rupees. or 100 rupees. Isn't it cheap.

By taking His name you sins get nullified that will happen without even your seeking.. Just as when Light enters the dark space every nook and corner can be visible. It is the side effect of the light. But you seeking that simple thing? It will happen anyways.

SO COMING TO UR QUESTION WHAT SHOULD I THINK WHILE CHANTING?

Meerabai was once asked why do you sing to Krishna?

Meerabai said, I am enjoy singing as I am seeing my Krishna is enjoying me singing too.. so I keep singing she said.

develop ruchi towards the chanting. Ruchi ( interest) comes when you have sharadhha and nishta.

To develop Shradhha you need to have Patience and doing a consistent effort of sitting daily and chanting with love. and hearing to what you are saying attentively.

Nishta means to have faith that Krishna is listening to you.

You are not doing it for urselfish sake. You are doing because Krishna is listening to you.

Bhakti has no ulterior motive.

Ek moti akal hi baat kahein?

Bhagwan jisne tumko banaya kya woh jo saara sansaar chala raha hai. Usko tumko kya chahiye pata nahi hai kya?

Tumko unko kyon batana hai.. ki mujhe ye chahiye woh chahiye. Woh sab janta hai tumko andar aur baher se. Jab jab tumko jo jo chahiye woh provide karega hi.

Enjoy chanting as Krishna name is more holier than HIM.

When doing naam jaap you can visualize Krishna form, leela or dhaam. Even remembering HIS Pure devotees is also as equal to rememberin HIM.

If you cannot remember anything just concentrate on the syllables of the mantra.
