My Tulasi beads broke…

Hare Krsna! My Tulasi beads broke.  What do I do?  Should I restring them, bury or burn them? What should I do?  I can't through them in the Ganges - I'm in USA.  Hare Krsna!   P.S. Sorry for asking so many questions the nearest temple is far away from me.

  • Hare Krishna,

You should re-string them and check if there are 108 beads. If any bead is missing than purchase the whole set. You can throw it in ocean or nearby River. All rivers meet the Ocean.

Ocean is called Ratnakara. Good to put them in a flowing river which is ultimately empitied into Ocean. Where no one stomps them. And offer your salutations to the river body. and offer to the Lord's feet while mentally praying to Lord like offering to Lord's feet flow them in the River.

You have in WI many rivers. All rivers are pure and have some significance. Or If you have plans to come to India sometime. Keep them in a small cover and place it near the Lord's feet in your home temple and purchase a new japa bead. ( PROVIDED there is a missing number in the beads) because for chanting 108 beads is must.

    Hare Krsna Prabhuji,

    PAMHO.

I am assuming you mean japa beads, not neck beads. If its neck beads, pls put them in any waterbody nearby, or bury them under a tree.

If it is japa beads, you can re string them and use as before.

    • I have never heard of getting rid of neck beads that break.  They break all the time. Every devotee I know simply restrings them.
