Moving to Vrindavan

Hare Krsna

Dandavats. pamho agtsp

My husband and I have been born and brought up in India. We currently live in USA. We want to move to Vrindavan with our 2 small boys.

I know a lot of people will raise concerns over moving to Vrindavan as grihasthas, but we would still like to consider the opportunity in making this our last lives and giving our children an atmosphere which is intense in bhakti. And with BGIS, our kids’ education will be covered.

We am looking for connections with people who have moved from different parts of the world to Vrindavan WITH their children. Do you know anyone? Can you please help me connect to them? We want to learn from them their experiences and think about what we should be prepared for.

We know it is not an easy move but we have done our best to prepare so far. We know the challenges of weather, life etc. but we would like to know first-hand from people who have LIVED through the experience.

Also, do you know anyone I can reach out to get a job / seva in temple or somewhere else in Vrindavan?

I beg you for your support in helping make this happen.

I appreciate your honest, helpful and best intentional responses.

Hari Bol!

      Hare Krishna!

It is indeed important to prepare ourselves before planning to reside there for an extended period. The scriptures provide guidance on how to make ourselves qualified to fully benefit from the spiritual potency of Vrindavan.

In the Bhagavad-gita (9.22), Lord Krishna states, "To those who are constantly devoted and who worship Me with love, I give the understanding by which they can come to Me." This emphasizes the importance of developing a deep and loving relationship with Lord Krishna through devotion and worship.

Additionally, the Srimad Bhagavatam (10.47.61) states, "One should reside in Mathura or Vrindavan only for the purpose of devotional service. The essence of all advice is that one should utilize one's full time—twenty-four hours a day—in nicely chanting and remembering the Lord's divine name, transcendental form, qualities, and eternal pastimes."

Therefore, it is recommended to engage in devotional practices such as chanting the Hare Krishna mantra, studying scriptures like the Bhagavad-gita and Srimad Bhagavatam, associating with devotees, and serving the Lord and His devotees. By following these principles, we can purify our hearts and make ourselves spiritually qualified to reside in Vrindavan.

It is important to note that residing in Vrindavan should not be taken lightly, as any sinful activities or offensive acts can have severe consequences on our spiritual life. Therefore, it is essential to approach Vrindavan with utmost humility, respect, and a sincere desire to serve the Lord and His devotees.

I hope this answer provides you with the necessary guidance. Hare Krishna!
