Hare Krishna,

I'd like to start learning a bit of either sanskrit, hindi or bengali to be able to understand more fluidly our granthas.

Can you tell me which one of these three languages would be better for this end? What's the most common language in our sampradaya's books?

thanks

    Hare Krsna Prabhuji,

    PAMHO.

What i have seen of foreigner devotees is that they learn Bengali to be able to relish CC. Regarding Sanskrit, it is the mother of all languages and must be learnt. The issue with sanskrit is - the same word will have multiple meanings. Unless one is a master, one cannot understand simply by reading sanskrit, without any help of purports. This will tend to make one confused. Therefore, it would be better to learn Bengali.

  • Gita & Bhagawat are in Sanskrit. Chaitanya Charitamrit is bengali. I don't have idea about other books
