Mokshada Ekadasi - Gita Jayanti

Hare Krsna dear devotees,

Tomorrow, 30th November is Mokshada Ekadasi. THis is also celebrated as Gita Jayanti.

This is the day Bhagawad Gita was spoken by Lord Krsna to Arjuna on the battlefield of Kurukshetra.

Devotees commemorate this day by chanting all the 700 shlokas of Gita. This takes about 2.5 to 3 hours. If you do not have time to recite all the shlokas, then it is a good idea to recite Chapter 8. If you do not have time for that also, then please recite 4 shlokas - Ch 10, Shlokas 8-11. This is called chatu-shloki Gita. Just by reciting these 4 shlokas, it is considered as reciting the entire Gita.

    Hare Krsna dear devotees,

Just to update you. Yesterday we read all the shlokas of Gita from 5.00 pm till 8.15 pm. There were 80 people in the audience. We made one member of our group lead one chapter, like this all 18 were read. The youngest to lead one chapter was 12 (2 students, 2 chapters). The oldest was 60+. One mike is with this leader and the other mike is with the lead prabhu, who organises the program. Members of our group wait to lead the chapters the whole year, booking in advance which chapter will be led by whom.

Packet prasadam was given to everyone, and members of our group (40 people) were given ekadasi feast.

This started as a modest effort few years ago - when only 2 of us read all the shlokas. Gradually, in less than 5 years, it has grown to 80 people reading the entire shlokas together.

In between chapters, the lead prabhu gives a synopsis of the chapter and then we proceed to the next chapter.

My purpose of mentioning all this is not to brag, but to inspire everyone. Its possible, just try to please guru and Krsna. They make all the arrangements. We are just instruments.
