The term heart when used in spiritual subject matter it denotes soul. And soul is the resting place of mind because we know soul is covered by three subtle elements i.e. mind , intelligence and false ego , therefore soul is covered by material mind , so when it says chanting clears the dust of the heart it means it clears the material dust of the mind inbuilt in the heart, then our heart shines forth.
