Hare Krishna dear devotees.....Dandavat

I  have just completed my engineering from NIT. Now i have two options either to prepare for CAT for pursuing MBA or to prepare for civil services. Since I have been associated with Krishna Consciousness, my priorities in life have changed. I no more hanker for power/money or fame. All i want is to pursue my spiritual life and also to preach Krishna Consciousness. Though one may contribute to preaching mission by giving 50% of his salary to full time preachers but i want to pursue active preaching rather than passive preaching like donating money etc. I want to preach actively and push on many projects like prasadam distribution/ book distribution/ gurukula/ varnashrama college etc.

Kindly tell, out of two i.e MBA or civil service like IAS/IPS ....which way will provide me enough opportunities and resources to spread Sankirtan mission.

    Hare Krsna Prabhuji,

    PAMHO.

It is heartening to note that you are thinking of integrating your career choice with your personal choice of Krsna Consciousness. Once, my temple president had mentioned that we want people/ young devotees to study hard and get jobs in administration or high posts, so that they can help us effectively by making laws favourable to Krsna Consciousness or preach effectively, dispelling the fear that a lot of people have in their minds that by choosing Krsna, one cannot progress materially.

Having said that, what I know is that MBA and IAS/IPS are different ball games altogether. For eg - MBA is tough, but IAS/IPS is exponentialy tougher. If you fail an entrance in MBA, you have to simply re appear. WHereas, if you fail in any stage of IAS exam, you have to reappear all the earlier stages also. The results are also for all to see - there are many more MBAs, but the prestige and position of power that an IAS/IPS commands is a lot more. It is your choice and your resilience which will be deciding factors.

My personal take in this is - regardless of whether you are and MBA or an IAS/IPS, you can still preach if you are sincere in your KC. A true seeker can learn from anyone and anywhere, and a true preacher can preach to anyone and anywhere. What will work is your purity, not your position of power and prestige, beyond the initial stage of curiosity. How many people you are able to influence is not like a sales target. How many sincere devotees you make is dependent on your purity. Srila Prabhupada, after achieving so much, 108 temples across the world, and disciples from all over, said - if I can make one pure devotee, then I will consider myself successful.

    Haribol,

    YOur servant,

    Rashmi

13 To Preach Effectively, One Must Chant The Holy Name
In order to have potency to preach, the preachers of the Krsna consciousness movement should become purified by chanting the holy name:
Our preachers who are preaching Krsna consciousness all over the world should follow in the footsteps of Narada Muni and become purified by following the four principles and chanting the Hare Krsna maha−mantra. This will make them fit to become Vaisnavas. Then, when they speak to sinful people about the teachings of this Krsna consciousness movement, people will be affected and take the instructions.
      - Sri Caitanya caritamrta Madhya lila 24.252
By chanting sixteen rounds of the maha−mantra (etc.) one gets spiritual strength with which to preach Krsna consciousness all over the world:
[Chand Kazi to the devotees of Lord Caitanya]: "For so long you did not follow the regulative principles of the Hindu religion, but now you are following them with great enthusiasm. May I know by whose strength you are doing so?"
It appears that from the aggression of Vaktiyara Khiliji in Bengal until the time of Chand Kazi, Hindus, or the followers of the Vedic principles, were greatly suppressed. Like the Hindus in present−day Pakistan, practically no one could execute the Hindu religious principles freely. Chand Kazi referred to this condition of Hindu society. Formerly the Hindus had not been straightforward in executing their Hindu principles, but now they were freely chanting the Hare Krsna maha−mantra. Therefore it must have been by the strength of someone else that they were so daring.
Actually, that was the fact. Although the members of the so−called Hindu society had followed the social customs and formulas, they had practically forgotten to execute their religious principles strictly. But with the presence of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu they actually began following the regulative principles according to His order. That order is still existing, and anywhere and everywhere, in all parts of the world, one can execute it. That order is to become a spiritual master under the direction of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu by following the regulative principles, chanting daily at least sixteen rounds of the Hare Krsna maha−mantra, and preaching the cult of Krsna consciousness all over the world. If we adhere to the order of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, we shall get spiritual strength without a doubt, and we shall be free to preach this cult of the Hare Krsna movement and not be hampered by anyone.
