Hare Krishna dear Devotees, please accept my humble obeisances! all glories to Srila Prabhupada!
Children need some type of relations with parents, wife with husband, parents with children, Guru with disciple, friend with friends....
These things are normal things. But to try to make from them our goal is not correct. Or else we will suffer. Because these relationships are not eternal. But to have them in a healthy way is ok.
Then after some while by nice sadhana Krishna will help us to redirect these relationships towards Him.
We can not artificially to reject so called relatives. Better to try to make them Devotees and that attachment now to Devotees will liberate us.
Your servant,

We tend to live in our illusion. Even if some one gives us pain, we sometimes picture them in a way that gives us bliss. Even when we know it is not true, we like to think that it is.
May be this is the reason that even when you know it is hurting, you do not wish to leave it. In such a case, pray to Krsna that He breaks your illusion and helps you to use your intelligence to see reality.
Hope it helps.
In truth nothing can make a hurdle for you and Krishna. If you believe Krishna to be seperate from you and this world, then that just means that you are not near to your soul. This materialistic world is not seperate from God, as though it appears to be but it is not. You and the rest of this world are a beautiful expression of God's creativity. My dear the world does not derive its meaning from its varigatedness, its beauty is only when God is seen shining through it. The world does not define God but God defines the world. Because we want to enjoy this world for our sake and because we do not see the Lord pervading the universe, we suffer the pairs of opposites. There is a saying: For one whom sees Brahman everywhere what shall he be attached to? what shall he renounce? Where the beloved is seen everywhere shining what pain? and what loss? Plz believe when I say to you these are just not words but from personal experience. Pain and trouble can touch you only aslong as you are ignorant of whom you are. When you sincerely surrender all your life experiences to God, I promise you, you will see the truth of whom you are, and you will see the Lord shine in all things. If you continue to enjoy for your own ego's sake and see the world as distinct and different from the Divine, the pair of opposites will always trouble you.

Association and respect are 2 different things. Respect is for everyone whether he be an enemy, a Vaisnava, a Mayavadi, a friend. A true Vaisnava sees everyone with with equal vision since we are part and parcels of Krishna. So we must respect our relatives even if they act like our enemies. We have to understand that in our past lives we must have acted with this person like an enemy so therefore he is now acting with us like an enemy to give punishment for our bad karma. Everything happens by Krishna's will.
In principle, devotees are advised to seek the association of those more advanced. Bhakti devi will not manifest herself without devotee association of some type. We all need the association of devotees. On the other hand, bad association must be carefully avoided. Every practicing devotee should know the various kinds of worldly people. Therefore we are hereby most unwillingly enumerating these people. These worldly people are of seven kinds: (1) Mayavadis and atheists, (2) sense enjoyers, (3) those who fond of the sense enjoyers, (4) non-devotee women, (5) womanizers, (6) the hypocritically devout, and (7) the ill-behaved foolish outcastes. In the Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu (1.2.43) it is said: sanga tyago vidurena bhagavad vimukhair janaih "One who desires to attain devotion to Krishna should carefully give up the association of worldly people." Activities like talking with worldly people in the course of one's work and duties is not considered association. When the same activities are done with affection for someone, then that is considered association with that person.
We should not associate not because some1 is giving us pain and distress materially but because that person is taking us away from the lotus feet of Krishna and making us forget Him.
Your Servant.
