Please excuse any mistakes I make, I am new to Krishna Consciousness and still discovering wonderful things every day.
My personal understanding is that things aren't necessarily forbidden in the Old Testament, fire-and-brimstone kind of a way, rather these things are guidelines for us to get to God as quickly as possible. If you have sex with someone for sense pleasure only it won't mean you burn in hell, it will just slow your progress to Krishna. Maybe it will take more lifetimes.
Ultimately, and in my small experiences so far of chanting every day, I am starting to see it becomes a case of not wanting to do things for sense pleasure only and that there is a deeper pleasure derived from our devotion. It's happening to me slowly but the things I have been very attached to all my life don't seem as important these days (sex included) and I'm sure this will keep continuing as my devotion grows.
Just my perspective, any mistakes in interpretation are my own.

On the contrary, Caitanya Mahaprabhu said that in Kali yuga, Sanyasa as well as animal sacrifice is forbidden.
As far as sex is concerned, it if forbidden only outside of marriage.
In Krishna consciousness, sex (only with your wife) is very much encouraged, because that will bring forth more Vaishnavas into this world. Raising children as Vaishnavas is a great service to Maha Vishnu. Having more children to serve Krishna, also builds unity in the family between husband and wife. Mutual respect, respecting elders etc.
SB 11.5.13 — According to the Vedic injunctions, when wine is offered in sacrificial ceremonies it is later to be consumed by smelling, and not by drinking. Similarly, the sacrificial offering of animals is permitted, but there is no provision for wide-scale animal slaughter.Religious sex life is also permitted, but only in marriage for begetting children, and not for sensuous exploitation of the body. Unfortunately, however, the less intelligent materialists cannot understand that their duties in life should be performed purely on the spiritual platform.
1. Sex is restricted to Marriage..only.. Not outside marriage..
2. Sex is only for begetting children only.
Sex is not done for sense gratification.
Shastras don't forbade sex but these two points are given in SB and vedas.
As per Vedas ISKCON follows.
No illicit sex ( outside marriage), and within marriage --only for begetting children that too KC children.

Who will decide that its not for begetting children but for sense gratification.The sexual urge is too strong to fool a person's senses.

~~smiles~~ it takes time to come to this understanding not possible in one life time.
Sexual urges are not so easy to be conquered. You can control anything ..onion garlic , tea coffee whatever..Kama vancha is very difficult last to be conquered. Many great sages have tried but failed.
Sage Vishwamitra if you see his life. He was basically a King, by birth a kshetriya, he got influenced by seeing Sage Vashistha's bramhanical powers. He wanted to attain the same powers. Tried to become Brahmin.
His sons were killed he left his kingdom and went to jungles( LOST MOHA, attachment) He was left alone. He felt he had to somehow defeat Vashishta sage. and show him he has powers like him. It started off like this.
he left to jungles and practiced yoga.( restricting food stuffs, eating only roots , fallen fruit)....and attained some powers and became arrogant and challenged Vashisth...THIS IS FIRST THING THAT HE IS TESTED ON.
HE LOST HIS POWERS BECOZ HE HAD PRIDE AND ARROGANCE left in him.
Again he did tapasya for many many years when he returned this time ....he controlled his anger, pride and arrogance this time ( which were basic Kingly traits).
But this time Gods sent Meneka to test him. He again fell for that lady. He lost all his virtues.
Then he understood. To be a pure brahmin like Vashishta he has to control his mind, senses and ego, anger.
He left to do tapsaya again and this time he emerged into a great sage. He is called Raja Rishi and got control of Kama, krodha, lobha, moha, madha matsarya.
It is a step by step process. One life you can clear of one bad in you. Ya., If you want to do it in single life then you must be like Sage Vishwamitra who attained great powers with lot of will power.
Above all you need to have mercy of guru and govind.
Until you have lost all the desire in you completely... (with only one desire left) that is too see Krishna. You keep taking births.
Desires for material world make u bind to earth.
One cannot have 2 desires at a time. LIke... I want to have see Krishna I want to enjoy material world also. Then how can u go to Krishna with this? To attain Goloka or Krishna one must get vairagya for the material worldly pleasures.
2 ways are there to get Vairagya..1. if u get bored of the material worldly pleasures. 2. you get control over ur senses.
worldly pleasures are difficult to be controlled at one go. Moderation is best. Controlling ur senses. Over indulgence makes u commit more sins as it bewilders you intellect.

It is really inspiring.
But I must say one thing one who holds on to the lotus feet and takes the holy name of Vasudeva.. surely he cannot go anywhere but reach only Him ....now be it one life time or two or more. But the destination is only Sri Hari. Why fear when He is there with you... . keep chanting.
Even if one commits the most abominable actions, if he is engaged in devotional service, he is to be considered saintly because he is properly situated ( BG 9.30)
Once you have taken resolve and took shelter of Lotus feet then you will surely reach HIM. To know HIM and power and Efficacy of the holy name is only a major step. From now it is how you control ur senses and work towards HIM.

Please visit your nearest ISKCON centre. You will find adequate number of married devotees and children. This will dispel your doubts.

YOu are too new, you neednt know all this at this stage.
This is for people who progress. THe whole thing is completely voluntary, there is no force.
In my opinion, you are not yet ready for the information, that is the reason I am holding back. As and when you get more involved, you will get the information. No need to know everything form before.
