Managing regulated sleep with Krsna Consciousness

Hare Krsna,

PAMHO,

All glories to Srila Prabhupada and all Vaishnavas,

After receiving lots of answers, full of knowlege and wisdom from the devotees, of the questions I had asked previously here, and completing reading Srimad Bhagavad Gita As It Is once, I began my journey towards Krsna Consciousness, following the 4 regulatory principles (still improving myself here as scope is still present, that's why I said TOWARDS KC), and listening to Kirtans and pravachans. Hence a great thanks for all the devotees for your support.

Today also I am having a few questions.

1. These days, inspired by His Divine Grace, I started sleeping maximum 6 hrs per day. I am a computer engineer, hence, I make sure that I stop my screen exposure totally (not even mobile) 1 - 2 hrs before sleeping, and start screen exposure atleast after 3 - 4 hrs after waking up, as, it affects the eyes and sleep also. I understand that we are the eternal souls, and, sleep is necessary only for the body as a recharge / repair process. But I feel sleepy in the day, during japa or reading. Please let me know what shall I do to stop feeling sleepy in the day in the reduced sleep time (I used to sleep for 7 - 9 hrs before starting my spiritual journey, which I understand was too much). Please suggest what should I do to cope with the sleep.

2. I have enrolled in Bhagavad Gita Online Test on bhakticourses.com, but, by mistake I had selected language as Hindi. I am reading English Bhagavad Gita. Is it possible that I can change the language of the course ?

Hare Krsna!

    Hare Krsna Prabhuji,

    PAMHO.

Very inspiring that you have taken to the process in full earnest. If you suddenly reduce your sleep from 9 hours to 6 hours, you will certainly feel sleepy. Try reducing 15 min at a time. Suppose you were sleeping 9 hours. Now for atleast a week, sleep for 8.30 hours. When you become comfortable with this, then reduce further. Small baby steps at a time prabhu. Then it is sustainable. Even while doing this. it is possible that you feel sleepy. All accumulated sleep must be had during weekends, if you dont get time during weekdays. This way, you will be able to sustain your sadhana and your sanity both.

Regarding bhakti courses, I am not the right person to revert.

    Haribol,

    Your servant,

    Radha Rasamayi DD
