Lord Balaram did not take part in the Battle of Kuruksetra?

Please Accept My Humble Obeisances. All Glories to Srila Prabhupada, Sri Gurudeva & Gauranga.Hare Krishna!I have read that Lord Baladeva was a superior to Duryodhana and Bhima. He taught them the art of Club and Mace fighting. He had a soft spot in His heart for the Kurus, so he did not fight against them.Instead, He went into the forest with a neutral attitude.I was suprised to read this, because I have always thought Lord Balaram was present on the Battlefield, but not mentioned. If anyone has any insight on this, please respond.Gaura Hari BolYour Servant,Bhakta David

  • ||harE krshnA .. My humble pranAms to all krshna-bhakthas and acharyas || Even I've heard the story about Balaram making this offense and he being advised to perform pilgrimage to expiate the sin. In the hindsight, it was all in Krshna's grand plan to remove Balram from the scene of kurukshetra. Balaram had a soft corner for Duryodhana and thus could not see the innocence of the Pandavas. However, when he realizes the happenings in kurukshetra through his divine insight, he arrives again at the scene where Bheema had just defeated Duryodhana by striking the thigh which is not considered an ethical act in mace-war. Balaram gets angry enough to kill Bheema. Krishna intervenes and reminds Balaram that he doesn't have anymore right to talk on behalf of Kauravas as he left his duty to fight, fled the battle scene, supported neither panadavas nor kauravas and thus not taking a stand which is worser than fighting in any case for duty-sake.

Hare Krishna David Prabhu, please accept my humble obeisances! all glories to Srila Prabhupada!

yesi also heard that Lord Balaram loved Duryodhana and Bhima equally and because of that did not take part in the battle.

Lord Balaram is Nityananda Prabhu. He is more merciful even than Lord Gouranga. He accepts even demons. But He could not tolerate hypocrites. Romaharshan Suta became proud of his knowledge and did not offered respect to the Lord and He killed him with the blade of Kusha grass.

    Your servant,
