Hare Krsna(^_^)

Dandabats to all saintly vaisnavas.

All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

I'm looking for the following siloka:

"As the small flames within burn everything within the room, similarly Lord Viṣṇu, situated in the heart of the yogī, burns up all kinds of impurities."

And I could not find the suitable siloka from Yoga-sutra regarding to "meditation on Viṣṇu":

"The Yoga-sūtra also prescribes meditation on Viṣṇu" which is from purport on Bhagavad-gita 2.61.

Please someone, could you help me?

Thank you, Hare Krsna(^_^)

KSD

  • This will answer your question as why Prabhupada says that Patanjali yoga sutra prescribes meditation on Vishnu even though there is no direct word Vishnu in yoga sutra. Only Ishvara word comes in yoga sutra. Read this transcript: https://www.thespiritualscientist.com/2015/03/what-does-om-mean/

    What does om mean?
  • “mad-bhakti-prabhāvena sarvendriya-vijaya-pūrvikā svātma dṛṣṭiḥ sulabheti bhāvaḥ.”-->> “The senses can be completely controlled only by the strength of devotional service to Kṛṣṇa.” Also the example of fire is sometimes given: “As the small flames within burn everything within the room, similarly Lord Viṣṇu, situated in the heart of the yogī, burns up all kinds of impurities.” The Yoga-sūtra also prescribes meditation on Viṣṇu, and not meditation on the void. The so-called yogīs who meditate on something which is not the Viṣṇu form simply waste their time in a vain search after some phantasmagoria. We have to be Kṛṣṇa conscious-devoted to the Personality of Godhead. This is the aim of the real yoga.

    Hare Krishna.

could not find more then this.

    • Dear Gayatri prabhu,

      Please accept my humble obeisances.

      All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

Thank you for your concern for my questions.

I need sanskrit siloka of "The Yoga-sūtra also prescribes meditation on Viṣṇu" which is in the purport BG 2.61 to defeat a astanga-yoga teacher by showing sastric evidence of Yoga-sutra.

I got a whole silokas of "Yoga-sutra" and many english traslations but I can't find out suitable Enlish translation  for "meditation on Viṣṇu" from all the English translation I have. If I find verse number of suitable traslation, then I can reach right siloka to show the evidence to that yoga teacher.

Yes, it's very hard to find the right siloka of "As the small flames within burn everything within the room, similarly Lord Viṣṇu, situated in the heart of the yogī, burns up all kinds of impurities."

I need this siloka to defeat the yoga teacher who meditate on brahmajoti.

      Thank you for your help.
