Hare Krishna,
Please accept my humble obeisances...
Let's say if a vegetarian food is mixed with onion and garlic, can I remove them and eat the rest? (while wearing tulsi kanthi mala) Does it count as eating onions and garlic?
I've stopped eating the onions and garlic, but sometimes, I would have to eat a vegetarian food that is mixed with onions or garlic, or both...I need a complete guide about this so that I can eat the food that Krishna likes... and I can offer the food to Krishna...to make Him more satisfied...and more happy...
Your humble servant,
Kavenesh

As far as scriptures are concerned, there is a reason why I shared the blog post about onion and garlic above. Referring to this blog post, Kurma Purana, Hari Bhakti Vilasa 8.158,159, Skanda Purana 40.9, Siva Purana 7.10-12, Padma Purana Vol. 42, 4.56.19b-24 and moreover Varaha Purana 16.11b-15 in this context, all mention to refrain from onion & garlic.
The whole idea is to progress oneself in his/her spiritual life. But this has to be done the right way or correctly. And in doing so, if one denies the teachings of his/her seniors, the scriptures, Srila Prabhupada and other aachrayas in disciplic succession, and thus indirectly denies Lord Krishna himself, then that is definitely not a very intelligent decision, both spiritually and even more logically.
