Hare Krishna my dear devotees! All Glories to Srila Prabhupada!
I've been having a mental breakdown over this for the past couple of days and I'm not sure what to do. So I thought it would be best to ask more experienced devotees than myself.
I have a friend who loves singing. I also love to sing, but for fun. I never took singing lessons when I was younger so I never "found" my singing voice. Anyhow, she offered to help me learn how to sing when she came over a few days ago.
My singing background usually falls on solely Hare Krishna, etc. and I like singing only when I'm alone (for Krishna). I just don't think my voice is good enough for kirtans.
My question: Would it be a not so good idea if I learned to sing (through material / bollywood songs) for Krishna's pleasure (in the end). I've been listening to kirtans in the car and I sing along, but I never took notice of my voice since I was alone. I do want to learn how to sing, but I'm worried if this is the wrong path for me.
(I'm in the USA, so finding a devotee teacher isn't very well suited).
Thank you Prabhus and Matajis,
Your humble servant
