Is it possible to give the deity for a repaint? I mean, you starting serving this Laddu Gopal - why not continue? Maybe at the time of paint, you can ask the painter what is way to take care - maybe every day abhishek or fortnightly abhishek is not ok. Like how Jagannath deities are preferably in wood, therefore they are done abhishek at the time of snana yatra and then repainted in the next 15 days. So, it would be better if you ask an ISKCON temple pujari of your locality and then decide. You can call him home and show him the deity or carry Him to the temple one day. Whatever - my personal opinion is - having started service of one particular deity, why to change? And what to do with the old deity if at all one changes.
One more thing - the painter has to be a devotee. I couldnt see where you are located. I know there are devotees in Vrindavan and Mayapur who paint deities - again ask in the local ISKCON temple - they will be able to help you.
