Keeping a vigraha of Lord Krishna with Flute at home

Hare Krishna

My humble obeisances to all devotees. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

I have a vigraha (idol) of Lord Krishna playing flute at my home. One of my relative said that we should not keep a vigraha like this (with Krishna playing flute) at home.

Is there is a specific reason for this? Or is this just a blind belief.

My understanding is that Krishna in any form is same as his name and pastimes are. They are all absolute as they are in oneness with the Supreme Being.

Can some devotees clarify this doubt for me please.

Thanks in advance,

RadheKrishna!!

There are very high standards required to be followed at home if you have the deity of Radha Krishna at home. Hence, Srila Prabhupaada said that grahastas should have the deities of Jagannath or Gaur-Nitai or Laddu gopal. The standards required for these deities are much less as compared to the threebanga form of Krishna holding flute. This over years became a blind belief that one is not supposed to have such deities at home at all.

In one of the deity welcoming lecture by HH Radhanath swami maharaj, he says that we have to follow the 4 regulative principles very strictly in the homes where we have the radha krishna deities and have to be taken care very nicely.

If what you are talking is not a deity and is just a image kept in your showcase or somewhere, then its ok to have it i think. Also there is no problem to have the pictures of radha krishna.

the 7th and the worst offense to the Holy Names is to commit a sin hoping to wash it by chanting.

Everything is possible Siddhartha Prabhu! Now, millions of Devotees stopped their sinful lives and started to chant, so You also can do this. We have just to associate with sincere Devotees, attend Sunday programs, Kirtans, eat Prasadam, read Srila Prabhupda's books.

Especially knowledge helps us to stop our sinful life. If we know how much price we have pay for a particular sin done then we will be very eager not to commit.

Hare Krishna dear Devotees, please accept my humble obeisances! All glories to Srila Prabhupada!

To have image or form of Krishna at home is good, they help us to remember Krishna and not to forget Him. It is better to have them more.

But when Devotee wants to serve to Krishna more intensely he/she takes wow and invites special Deities to his house, installs Them according to Shastras with the help of senior Devotees. And puts standards which he can follow for whole of his life.

For example, when we serve to Sri Sri Goura Nitay Deities we usually offer flowers, insects, fire, water, daily feed Them, offer clothes, put Them to bed every night, wash Them at least once a week....

In this way we serve to Them and take care of Them as our own children. They are called worship-able Deities.

    Please Accept My Dandavat Pranams.
All Glories to Sri Sri Radha Vinoda Bihari.

I have also heard this because I have had many deities given to me (Lord Krishna with flute and Srimati Radharani on his side).

The thing is, if your household is not following strictly the 4 principles and the deity of Shri Krsna with flute is present, it is malicious to spiritual growth.

This is the explanation I received from devotees in the ISKCON Brooklyn temple.

    I hope this helps.
