The battle never ends and some days more difficult than others, do other devotees have the same battle? I chant and read Srila Prabhupada's books while associating with local devotees, what do others do?

Yes, its a constant struggle. The way out is to follow the ABCD - Association, Books, Chanting and Diet. When one is strong in one's sadhana, one can withstand most of it. Krsna sees our sincerity and helps us somehow.
The basic point is to understand that the world is full of miseries and extremely temporary. Better to get out of this world at the earliest by doign so much sadhana that one qualifies to go back to the spiritual world.
