Hare Krishna to all the devotees
All glories to srila Prabhupada
There are many festivals like karvachauth were people do fasting to prolong the lifespan of one's spouse. But is it even possible to do so, since our lifespan is decided already by God, right?
Is there any reason according to scriptures behind this?

Hare Krishna,
Not possible as per rule. But there are exceptional cases where a Pativrata naari can plead and fight for her husband's life with Yama dharma raja and bring him back life example is Savitri mata ji
Sumati mata ji and Pativrata stree like Sati Anasuya.
Dharma, Artha, Kaam aur Moksha
One who is living by dharma, earns by dharmic means ( not stealing or doing himsa for monetary gains) and who does his duties or householder properly ritualistically ( being with one husband or being with one woman) and limiting his kaam to only one woman ( restricting his senses ) is able to get moksha in the end. The dharma badha ( one who is righteous who can control his senses and one who does all duties of householder.
Being a good son to a father is also a dharma of a son.
Being a good mother to her children is a dharma of a mother.
being a good chaste wife is the duty of a wife towards a husband
being a good husband responsible husband and ( who restricts his senses to one woman) is also the duty of husband.
being a good disciple of a guru is a duty or dharma of a disciple
Being a good guide or guru is also a duty or dharma of a guru likewise.
If everyone does their dharma perfectly.. Lord Krishna loves them and grants their wishes thru some demigods ( like when Savitri mata ji asked for her husband's aayu it was granted by Yama sanctioned by Lord Sri Krishna).
But in Kaliyuga we may try our best but kahi na kahi... bhool chook ho jaati hai.. we are not that perfect because of Kali prabhaava. And Lord knows very well
So, Lord said okay I understand your problems of Kalikaala.
BG 18.66: Abandon all varieties of dharmas and simply surrender unto Me alone. I shall liberate you from all sinful reactions; do not fear.
As per BG:-
Men of small intelligence worship the demigods, and their fruits are limited and temporary. Those who worship the demigods go to the planets of the demigods, but My devotees ultimately reach My supreme planet. ( 7.23 BG)
If we follow anyone out of attachement to them whereever they go we shall follow them. If we attach ourselves to Krishna we go to HIS Abode finally.
