In the story for Kamada ekadasi, that is exactly what happens. The wife of the Gandharva fasts and then donates her merit to him, and he becomes free from the curse. So she can definitely do it, but if at all possible she should do it under the guidance of senior devotees who will be able to direct her properly.

But if he had done apparadha to Devotees then only lotus feet of those offended Devotees may protect him from misery. Nothing else.
