I was told that after a year or so of chanting and serving one begins to be considered as elagabale as devotee of Krishna, by Krishna. & yes chanting does become more rewarding after this anessheation(s) of time & or by GURU. This is my exp. & understanding. Yes CHANTING counts before & after being acknowledge ment by ISKCON & yes it does become easier after a year or so, ji Jagganath.
No. God is not petty. Chanting is important, before or after initiation. Initiation is a process of surrender to a live guru, commit to a guru parampara, to chant 16 and follow 4. This commitment is given after practising for some time.
Initiation is also like getting a degree from a university - where both you and the university acknowledge each other's presence, commitment, level of knowledge. Would you get yourself operated by a certified surgeon or by someone who may have stayed around surgeons, even been inside Operation Theatre during surgery, but does not have a degree?
Once one is initiated, whichever temple of ISKCON one goes, one is recognised as a follower of the principles. It is easier to get certain services once one is initiated.
