Namaste.
Haribol means "chant holy names". But in which language?
In hindi and bengali bol is a form of bolnA (बोलना) and balA (বলা) respectively of the derogatory intimate infinitive. E.g. tU bol -in hindi or tui bol -in bengali. Which one of these languages is haribol? Also why the derogatory intimate infinitive is used instead of The Familiar Imperative e.g. tum bolo (in hindi) or tumi bolo (in bengali)?
Did the custom of greeting each other with that word exist before the advent of Lord Caitanya?
