  • SB 7.1.27Nārada Muni continued: By devotional service one cannot achieve such intense absorption in thought of the Supreme Personality of Godhead as one can through enmity toward Him. That is my opinion.

SB 7.1.28-29A grassworm confined in a hole of a wall by a bee always thinks of the bee in fear and enmity and later becomes a bee simply because of such remembrance. Similarly, if the conditioned souls somehow or other think of Kṛṣṇa, who is sac-cid-ānanda-vigraha, they will become free from their sins. Whether thinking of Him as their worshipable Lord or an enemy, because of constantly thinking of Him they will regain their spiritual bodies.
SB 7.1.30Many, many persons have attained liberation simply by thinking of Kṛṣṇa with great attention and giving up sinful activities. This great attention may be due to lusty desires, inimical feelings, fear, affection or devotional service. I shall now explain how one receives Kṛṣṇa’s mercy simply by concentrating one’s mind upon Him.
SB 7.1.31My dear King Yudhiṣṭhira, the gopīs by their lusty desires, Kaṁsa by his fear, Śiśupāla and other kings by envy, the Yadus by their familial relationship with Kṛṣṇa, you Pāṇḍavas by your great affection for Kṛṣṇa, and we, the general devotees, by our devotional service, have obtained the mercy of Kṛṣṇa.
SB 7.1.32Somehow or other, one must consider the form of Kṛṣṇa very seriously. Then, by one of the five different processes mentioned above, one can return home, back to Godhead. Atheists like King Vena, however, being unable to think of Kṛṣṇa’s form in any of these five ways, cannot attain salvation. Therefore, one must somehow think of Kṛṣṇa, whether in a friendly way or inimically.

Generally speaking, to be naive means  not think enough. People who are "naive" tend to believe in whatever they are told, without questioning whether it is right or wrong. That's why we have scriptures like Srimad Bhagavatam to consult.
One should understand Guru instruction exactly on the way he mean, otherwise student will remain in darkness of illusion, despite the effort of following Guru.
Simply just by correct understanding Absolute Truth, the influence of material illusion on jiva start to cease down.

Śrīmān Nārada Muni, the topmost pure devotee, praises Kṛṣṇa’s enemies like Śiśupāla because their minds are always completely absorbed in Kṛṣṇa. Inde…

      • If one can not remember the God on end of this life, for sore he can remember his Guru.

That's the point of Srila Prabhupada.

Anyway, lets see what Lord says about going backhome :

SB 5.5.15If one is serious about going back home, back to Godhead, he must consider the mercy of the Supreme Personality of Godhead the summum bonum and chief aim of life. If he is a father instructing his sons, a spiritual master instructing his disciples, or a king instructing his citizens, he must instruct them as I have advised. Without being angry, he should continue giving instructions, even if his disciple, son or citizen is sometimes unable to follow his order. Ignorant people who engage in pious and impious activities should be engaged in devotional service by all means. They should always avoid fruitive activity. If one puts into the bondage of karmic activity his disciple, son or citizen who is bereft of transcendental vision, how will one profit? It is like leading a blind man to a dark well and causing him to fall in.

Thank you very much for this post.

In fact, I was about to write something on similar lines. I went to my seniors and asked the same question. The answer I got was -

If we think of guru, we go to guru. Since guru is with Krsna, then our destination is ultimately Krsna. There are many devotees who left their body thinking of Srila Prabhupada and Srila Prabhupada himself came to take them back to Godhead.

Another logic to further this argument is - if we are in a hurry and not able to offer food to Krsna with full mantras, then we should offer the food to guru. Atleast say the guru mantras. That is enough and accepted by SP. Guru will offer to God.

        Haribol,

Today's Srila Prabhupada quote is :

To serve the servant of Krishna is better than to serve directly Krsna, because if the servant of Krishna promises something, if the servant of Krishna says, :I'll take you to Krishnaloka", you must go there.

        Mayapur, March 7th, 1976.

        Haribol,

        • He didn't mean that he will take anyone anywhere, but that those who follow his instructions will go to Krishna loka.

If you take the proces you will go, otherwise not. That's the promise he meant.

Without taking to the process and faith in guru, how will one think of guru at the time of death? Thinking of guru is as potent as thinking of the lord, only the guru has to be bonafide.

      • how did they know that those devotees left their bodies thinking of prabhupada and how did theycome to  know that prabhupada himself came and took them away?

  • remember only and only Krishna my friend. one never know where our honourable guru has reached.  take the example of the greatest raj-risi king Bharat Maharaj. he remembered deer at the time of death and became a deeer on the other hand the most sinful ajamila simply called out his son named Narayana and was saved from hellish regions. SO REMEMBER ONLY KRISHNA AND NO ONE ELSE

  • Guru is only giving the knowledge and showing the direction of the path to Lord, but on that path student needs to walk alone. Considering all that, nobody will take you with the  hand to Goloka, but you can get instructions how to do it.

      Hare Krsna Prabhuji,

      PAMHO.

I want to ask you one question - if guru is not responsible to take disciple back to Godhead, then why is it said that "even if one of my disciples does not go back to Godhead, I will have to come back and take that disciple."

I agree with you that guru is responsible for showing us the path, walking on the path is our responsibility. But guru has taken responsibility for us, right? Otherwise why the diksha? I am talking of diksha guru.

Why guru has right to correct and chastise disciple? Because he has taken responsibility, right?

So, if at the end we remember guru, isnt that a sign that guru is coming to fulfill his responsibility?

      Haribol,

      Your servant,
