    Hare Krsna prabhuji,

    PAMHO.

There are 2 aspects to it - following the varnashram, doing your prescribed duty is what makes one a good citizen of the world. It gives us enough pious karma for next birth to be good and this birth problems to be minimised.

However, without devotion, association of devotees and rendering devotional service, one doesnt go to the next level, which is attempting to please the lord. One who follows the 4 regulative principles, chants 16 rounds everyday, follows his shiksha guru, strives to make progress in spiritual life, is sure to please the lord one day or the other. Following 4 regulative principles and chanting 16 rounds are the first steps in trying to please the lord, they are not mundane activities.

Who says lord is not pleased by our efforts to please Him in various ways, by austerities, by sadhana, by service to His servants, by rendering direct service to His arca vigraha. Of course these activities are pleasing to Him.

One of the ways in finding out whether one is making progress spiritually is - one's material hankering reduces, one's taste for spiritual activities increase. One becomes conscious of doing one's sadhana attentively and not as a ritual, one becomes conscious of not offending a vaishnava, one becomes more and more aware of sansara davanal - how this material world is full of problems and not the right place for us to be in.

Remembering BG shlokas is a way to remember the lord's instructions. The ideal is to remember the message in the shloka and apply it to one's life, merely remembering the sanskrit without application will only make one puffed up and result in weeds hindering spiritual development. Of course, if one acts as per BG shlokas, then isnt one following the direct instructions of the lord? Wont that be pleasing to the lord?

    Haribol,

    Your servant,

    Radha Rasamayi DD

    • OK. I have got some information and instructions through this. Thanks a lot for your kind reply.

  • Actually, very few people knows that Sri Krishna can not be pleased with  ones austerities, chanting different mantras, studying holy scriptures, executing its own duties according to varnashrama dharma, sacrifices, yoga practice or renunciation.

Lord is pleased when one associate with His true devotees, therefore human beings should know that one can not appreciate or understand Him without pleasing Him.

Even if one is very fallen, one for sore will reach the goal of life just because of such association, on another side, even famous acariyas who perfectly follows all principles of religious life, will fail reaching the goal if they didn't have such association.

The behavior of His true devotees is often hard to understand because their external activities might have nothing to do with God. They are hidden jewels in human society rarely uncovered to public, but such rare souls can be clearly discovered by external body symptoms described in scriptures, which without fail appears  when they remembering the Lord.

    • Ok. Thank you.

So when He gets sufficiently pleased, hope this soul will also be thrown too into such association; till then let get deluded through maze of own mind ?!
