How to worship Bal Gopal at home

I recently bought Bal Gopal ji. I am very confused on how to serve him. Can I do mangal aarti for him everyday at 4:30 am? What I do now is after taking bath, I first wake him up and offer him sugar and water. Then I change his clothes and put kesar chandan on his forehead and make him seated on a gaddi kept on an aasan. I also keep flowers and tulsi leaves near him. Then I light a ghee diya and incense sticks. Then I give him water and whatever I cook without onion-garlic or else fruits and keep a tulsi leaf on each food item and water. Then after 15 minutes I put it on a separate plate and eat and drink that considering them prasadam. Then repeat the procedure in the afternoon and then make my Laddoo Gopal Ji sleep. In the evening I wake him up and light a ghee diya and insence sticks. At around 7 pm I offer him food and then after half an hour change his clothes, remove the flowers from his bed and make him sleep. Am I serving him right? Any additional thing I have to do? Also, please tell me what all items are needed during aarti. Is it ok that I worship only Laddoo Gopal Ji or do I need to worship Srila Prabhupada and Gaura-Nitai also? What is the correct way to offer prasadam and what mantra has to be chanted while offering it? Is it important to keep him in jhula everyday or can I do it only during Jhula Mahotsav?Hare KrishnaPrerna Preetish Mohanty

  • Jai Shree Krishna. I have also purchase a Laddu Gopal ji idol. I am not sure if I can make them wear same dress for the whole day or do we need to change dress multiple times in a day as well? I have also purchased some toys for my Kanhaji. Can you please help me understand if we just need to place those toys with them or do we need to do anything specific with the toys, like play with them while worshipping? For you refeence I have ordered all items from here but they have not mentioned how to use the toys. https://www.aksharbhakti.com/collections/thakur-ji-ladoo-gopal-ji

Thank you so much Rashmi Mataji. I have started massing Laddoo Gopal Ji with ghee every night. I also do abhishekh every morning. I want to keep Tulsi Ji also but since I am staying alone now, its not possible because I wont be able to serve her every month for a few days. I had another query on my friend's behalf. She wanted to know if its correct to keep Laddoo Gopal Ji of gold and his mandir and Jhula also of gold.

      Hare Krsna Mataji,

      PAMHO.

Sorry for the late response, I was travelling, so no access to this site.

No problem in keeping tulsi maharani also, it is pleasing to the lord when you serve her. The days when you cannot water tulsi, ask a neighbour or maid to do so, so simply keep her out. I think it should be ok.

Gold is not the preferred metal, though strictly speaking gold is also a metal and scriptures say deities can be of metal. It is considered to be Kali's place, therefore for devotional purposes, silver is preferred to gold, followed by bronze. There could be an issue of security, considering the price of gold. If she is still keen and has made the arrangements already, then let her go ahead.

      All glories to Srila Prabhupada.
Can I take Laddoo Gopal Ji when I am travelling out of station. The thought of leaving him behind at home unserved is very disturbing. But in case I take him along with myself, will the airlines allow me to carry him and he would also have to go through scanning and all?

        Hare KRsna Mataji,

        PAMHO.

Yes, you can carry your Gopal ji with you. If you are flying, then you have to keep Him in check in baggage, not even in hand baggage, it will not be allowed. You have to tell Him that you are making Him travel with you. If you carry Him in your hands, you cannot eat or keep Him down at all, which can be impractical for longish journeys. For international travel, you will need to carry papers to prove that you own the deity, that it is not stolen.

The other option is to give Him to a neighbour or relative or friend who can take care in your absence.

The other option is to keep some food items and water in covered condition, put Him in sleep mode, and tell Him where you are going and when you will return, and then leave Him at home.

        Haribol,

        Your servant,

        Rashmi

I understand that your question is towards Rashmi ji...and I am also eager to read her reply. But its just that I marked something in your post, so would like to clear my confusion.

Hope you are doing very well ... the service of Ladoo Gopal can range from being very  precise to very elaborate - its just that it needs to be consistent. Like women during their menstrual periods can not touch the dieties. This is why it is easier when the whole family serves Him. if we are staying alone, in that case we can request a neighbour/friend to help for a few days.

Thank you so much Rashmi Mataji and Bhuwan Ji. I have kept Laddoo Gopal Ji on a sihansan on top of a table and the other Gods whom I had also kept on that table, I have shifted that mandir to a plastic stool. I also have a photo of Bal Gopal Ji. I have kept it just next to Laddoo Gopal Ji. I offer him insence sticks in the morning and evening. I have a photo of Radha-Krishna stuck on the wall just above Laddoo Gopal Ji. I do aarti once a day for them and offer insence sticks. I have been seeing my grand-mother do puja of Ganpati, Lord Shiva, Mata Rani, Maa Lakshmi since childhood. I somehow cant convince myself to stop doing there puja. I do their puja at 6 am and Laddoo Gopal Ji's puja at 8 am because he is a baby and I dont want to wake him up so early. I hope I am not upsetting him by doing this.

      Hare Krsna Prerna Mataji,

      PAMHO.

There is no problem to keep Ganpati, Lord Shiva, Mata Rani, Maa Lakshmi photos on your altar if you want. Like you said, they are kept one level lower than Gopalji, which is also OK. Do not worship demigods for any benediction under any circumstances - pray to them because they are also vaishnavas, they are all devotees of Krsna if you see each of them. Pray to them to make you a vaishnava like them. If at all you ever find the need to ask for anything, ask only and only from your Gopalji.

THe only part I am not comfortable with, I mentioned earlier also, is they are on the same altar. How can you have different waking up time and different puja times for each of them? Moment you are doign arati, howcome Gopalji can sleep, being on the same altar? And how much more time it takes? Do some other devotional activity if you have time, like japa, or reading Gita or Bhagawatam. Keep same waking, sleeping and eating time for your altar.

What aratis are you doing? Do darshan arati for Gopalji - Govindam Adi Purusham.

YOu should ideally keep 6 goswamis, guru parampara and Srila Prabhupada photos on your altar, but them it becomes very crowded. See if you can accomodate. The concept is that we are too insignificant to reach God by ourselves, therefore we take the help of our guru and he of his guru and so on to approach God.

Do what is do able, do not take tension. Deities in the house are for serving, not getting tensed about. However nicely we do, we are fallible, will make mistakes. God is infallible and all forgiving. Do with a clean heart and with service attitude, Krsna will surely accept. If you are sincere in your heart, He will guide also.

      Best of luck,

      YOur servant,

      Rashmi

  • Hare Krishna Mataji!!!!

Mataji i would like to advice you that you can keep the idols of other demigods but if we are into Krishna Consciousness then there is no requirement to worship the demigods.  If you serve Krishna it means you have served these demigods also. Mataji if you visit any of the ISKCON temple you will not find worshiping any demigod.  We offer our love & service only to Lord Krishna.

He is the Most Beautiful, Charming, Powerful, Wellwisher, Father of every living entity, Supreme Controller and everything in the Universe,  so we need to worship only Lord Shri Krishna.  Yes we should offer our respect to other demigods like Shri Ganesh, Shri Shivji, Shri Durgaji and others as they are all the devotees of the Lord Krishna and call Vaishav, but we should worship only Lord Shri Krishna. If we worship only Krishna and make him happy through our sincere & pure services these demigods also will be very pleased to see us.

If you really want to serve Krishna then only serve him.  Never think that if you do not serve demigods like Shri Ganesha, Shri Bhole Nath and Durga ji then they will get angry,  no, never ever becasue they are all created by Lord Shri Krishna.  So just give your 100% to Lord Shri Krishna and to your bonafide spritual master.

Lord Says in Mahabharat to Arjuna: SarvaDharma Parityajate, Mamekam Sharnam it means leave all kind of religion and just surrender onto me.  I will relieve you from all sin and protect you.  Do not fear,  just pranam to me.

    Your Humble Servant

    Bhuwan Dutt Bawari
