We become humble by being humble, as simple as that. Humility is not thinking low about yourself, but about thinking yourself less. I will gvie couple of examples:
Devotee A would do small services in ISKCON temple on weekends. Once, when she went to take prasadam in the morning, she was told that she will not be charged because she renders service in the temple. She was so disturbed by that - how can anyone recognise HER? How can anyone do anything for HER?
The moral was - please stop thinking about yourself, gracefully accept as Krsna's gift to you. If you still think you can afford the prasadam and would like to pay, simply put the amount in the temple hundi. Creating a scene at the payment counter in the name of humility is not humility.
Story 2 - one 96 year old devotee was serving one small temple in Giriraj ji near Vrindavan since the age of 5. When one group of ISKCON devotees were doing Govardhan parikrama that year, they stopped at the temple and the Maharaj leading the group was told about this simple pujari. Maharaj asked the pujari - where will you go after this life - to Goloka or Saket or Vaikuntha or.... That old man started to cry - he said I will go to hell. Even after serving for so many years, my heart doesnt melt when I hear the holy names. It is so hard, I am so unfortunate.
Moral - he displayed real humility.
I hope you have understood what I am trying to say.

Thank you for replying. It is from examples like these that we learn. The 96 year old is both humble and honest.
