Hare Krishna
I have met some Christians (Catholics) who accept Sri Krishna. They do believe Him to be Jesus' father in "Heaven." They obtained mala and told me that they began chanting to Lord Krishna and I was very happy to hear this, BUT when I asked them what are they saying to Lord Krishna, they tell me that they say "I love Krishna" on each bead.
I did not want to discourage them from making a connection with Sri Krishna, so I didn't say anything about our Maha-Mantra "Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare/ Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare."
I feared that they would say this is too hard to do. Or, "Why should I chant in this way? Doesn't God (Krishna) understand all languages?"
Please instruct me. I don't want to force the Maha Mantra onto anyone, especially if they will not appreciate the great things it brings along with it.

Bhakta David

Such people need to be handled with a bit of logic. If they say that they chant 'I Love Krishna' then we can ask what do they do to show their love??? Love is not simply sentimental. If a boy loves a girl, she expects him to do any thing for pleasing her. Similarly, if we say we love Krishna or want to love Krishna then we need to show our love by doing some service to him. And this is called Devotional Service or Bhakthi. SP explains that one of the many meanings of HK Mahamantra is 'O energy of the Lord, Radhe, O supreme Lord, Sri Krishna, Please engage me in your devotional service'. And we can further explain about what actually devotional service is and how one can do and derive pleasure out of it.
