  • Hare Krishna! Dandavat Pranam!

Please note, Bhagavad Gita is not a mundane 'academy' book but is a 'jewel' of all the scriptures. Yes, there is general tendency and desire to 'complete' the reading but we should not lose the 'essence' of the messages in rushing to complete the reading. In fact, our lifetime will not be sufficient to conclude reading Bhagavad Gita.

Having said that here are few tips (that Adiyen follows):

    1. Read sloka and purport, listen to Acharya's lectures for each of the sloka. If you are interested in listening to tamil discourse, you can listen to Sri Velukkudi Krishnan swamy's discourses (who is from Sri Sampradayam following Sripada Ramanujacharya)

    2. Take notes and think how to apply the teachings of lord Sri Krishna in day-to-day life

Finally, its not just 'knowledge' that we get as we read the Bhagavad Gita but also 'Bakti' (love for the lord) should develop in parallel.

Bg 10.10 — To those who are constantly devoted to serving Me with love, I give the understanding by which they can come to Me.

In this verse the word buddhi-yogam is very significant. We may remember that in the Second Chapter the Lord, instructing Arjuna, said that He had spo…
  • hare krishna silambarasan, maybe this helps also. what you can do is see how many pages there are in your copy of bhagavad gita as it is in tamil and then decide on a certain period of time you want to read the entire text. in the english edition, if you read 41 pages a day, you can read the entire bhagavad-gita in 18 days. i.e. in exactly as many days as the battle raged on in kurukshetra. you can decide on a period of time, and then calculate how many pages you need to cover every day in order to complete your intention. a profound way to go about it is to read aloud, reading all translations of text and purport as given by his divine grace srila a.c. bhaktivedanta swami prabhupada. hare krishna.

  • Is there any course on Srimad Bhagavatam by ISKCON pure devotees like Bhakti Shastri course on bhagavat Gita by His Grace Chaitanya Charan Das?

  • Best way to understand Gita instead reading Gita is first to watch & then read.......

that is, watch the Gita spoken by Lord Krishna to Arjun in Ramanand Sagar's Serial Shree Krishna

Ya, it's 7 hrs Gita, but it'll help you very much to understand deep meaning of Bhagwad Gita........

    Hare Krsna Prabhuji,

    PAMHO.

To read GIta, its a good idea to read from beginning to end. Start with Introduction, it is explained in details. Then move to Chapter 1 and then Chapter 2 and so on.

There is no need to memorise anything - shloka or text. The idea is to understand, that too we also know takes time. There are different levels of understanding, thats why it appeals to people of all levels - whether young or old, whether spiritually infant or advanced.

Keep asking questions if you have any. You could also hear shloka wise lectures in this website itself, for better understanding.
