It is said that in order to develop in krishna consciousness we have to avoid the association of non devotees. But i have a very close friend, who is a non devotee . He is my neighbourhood. My college is at a long distance. So we both travel together to our college through MTC bus . It seems that it is impossible for me to avoid him. Please advice me what i have to do?

Ideally speaking, you don't have to avoid him. Just be frank and open to him about the kind of talks you wish to have with him. Please tell him that you don't talk unnecessary talks. Give him prasad and have him in ur favour.
Try not to associate with him. Association means sharing ur heart.So please don't share your heart with him.
We don't have to leave our material friends completely. We just have to not take their association.

And suggesting him to read Books.
If he does not like these things then he will himself leave You. Do not worry. He will become a Devotee and have similar thoughts with You or else all these things will be boring to him and he will leave Your company.
But You try Your best to give him Krishna. But very intelligently, not forcing...
Krishna keeps him with You it means Your duty to help him.
