they used to take whatever they needed and other part distribute to others. Also they used to have Gurukulas where they used to take care of students fully providing them with education, food, place to reside.
So brahmana means one who accepts charity also gives charity.
Because they live selfless life they are considered worthy for taking charities.
Other classes are not allowed to live for charity but only brahmanas.
Your servant,
one asks food for feeding his Deities and then honor himself. But what if one is asking for money for which he could publish books and distribute that knowledge to others?
Why only food?
Bali Maharaja or Yudhishthira Maharaja used to give kilos and kilos of gold to brahmanas not only few Rupees.
Brahmanical culture means where everybody has 4 main qualities:
sincerity
purity
austerity
compassion
because in Satya Yuga all these qualities were there, people all were brahmanas. Because of that nature would give all needed necessities for livelihood: cloth, food...temperature was not so hot or so too cold...in this way there was no need for doing hard work, people used to serve to God only by doing meditations.
when they had sinful thoughts they would get reactions for that because of that they could live sinless life so there was no need for people who give external punishments.
Brahmana means who is not controlled by any other lower castes. because they punish themselves.
Your servant,
In Satya Yuga there was no need for kshatriyas because everyone was brahmana in quality.
Which means brahmana is not punished by other he himself punishes himself for being wrong. So no need for others.
In Treta yuga appeared kshatriya class because people with lower qualities started to to take birth so there was need for ruling class.
Brahmanas earn money by learning Vedas and making others scholar.
Kshatriyas by taking taxes - 25% of vaishyas and shudra's income. Plus they would take taxes only if person earned something. For example, vaishya buys one kg of apple for 40 Rs so he could have right to sell it putting only 25% which means he supposed to sell it for 50 Rs. and here his 100% income is 10 Rs so out of this 10 Rs he had to give 2 and half Rs to tax collectors - kshatriyas.
As we know kshatriyas - king themselves were perfect lawyers, for example Prahlada Maharaja or King Parikshit so they did not charge any money for solving some issues. For example, once two mothers were claiming one child to be their own. So Prahlada Maharaja solved that problem not asking any money.
I do not know other things.
But if at this time system is such then we have to accept the present rules. For example, few years back there was no need for visas people could travel to other countries easily but now we can not. so we have to obey even Devotees.
or else we will have big problems.
Your servant,
