Dandvat Pranam to all Vaishnava Devotees,

All glories to prabhupada,

Gaura Nitya chandra ki jai

I have this question in my mind since a long time and wanted to know the scriptural perspective from the devotees.

Does a devotee of Lord considers any right on his paternal property when it comes to the question that whether he has right to the money which his parents have saved throughout their life ? OR is it that he should not ask for it at all.

Is it correct to ask the parents to give him money for Krishna Concious projects as a right because he is a part of the family legacy.

Considering that the devotee is already working and taking good care of the family.

At your service,

gaurav

If parents desire to give it when You politely ask then it is nice. But they refuse to give then how to force?! No how. A Devotee should not bother much, those who do not want to donate money. We explain where money will go but if they do not give even though then no need to disturb them much otherwise they will start to dislike Krishna Consciousness.

Son takes care of his parents not only by giving money but also spiritual knowledge and it should be done as a duty not waiting anything in return. That attitude melts hearts.

In the 9th Canto of Shrimad Bhagavatam Lord Rama says I am giving all the wealth to a brahmanas because they are only qualified to have all the wealth of the world because they are fully selfless.

In this way when they see that You really want to use money for something good then they will help You financially voluntarily.

    Your servant,

    • Thanks Mataji for your comments.

The situation here is different, if the parents use the money doing wrong things and giving it to people

whom it should not be given.

Should I try to take that money with some excuse and make sure I protect it and give them when required ?

my humble obeisances Gaurav Prabhu, All glories to Srila Prabhupada!

It says that girl is protected by father when she is small and by husband when she is young and by son when she gets older.

It seems that You have mother who depends on You. Whom You are protecting financially, physically, mentally and spiritually. If it is like this then You have to try to stop them from wrong deeds because sins will lead to hell. Because women do more mistakes when they are free they need to be under protection it means when she wants to commit sin husband, son or father stops her...with advices, knowledge, care...

If they really doing something wrong, not according to religious principles than it is Your duty to stop them. Or if they do not listen to You then to stop even providing them or just say like that. But we should always be respectful to our seniors, aren't we?!

For example, in my case. Usually in our home because everyone works they do not have time for cooking at home. So they used to buy ready food from outside or just buy some fast cooking food and cook that fast and have that. And of course it contained non veg also.

        So i had two choices:

        1. to lock up in my room and just chant my rounds and when i go to other rooms close my nose and every time wash the dishes with cow dung...etc.

        and second option is:

        2. take in charge of kitchen myself.

        So i did the second.

I used to wake up early after bath chant my rounds, and made breakfast ready before my brother, sisters, parents wake up. So i had time to offer and all. The same thing with lunch and dinner. Everything was on time every time. So while doing shopping also i used to prepare a shop list so there was no nonveg but only food which i can offer to Gaura Nitay.

And tried to cook everyday different food and sometimes food which resembles in taste to non veg meals like cottletes but with vegetables ...

in this way they were happy. They did not bring non veg food to home.

So i think in Your case also to see what they want by giving that money to some one else. You are not explaining it nicely so we can not understand You properly. Maybe they are giving that money to some rascal "saints" or investing to black business....

        Your servant,

        • Thank you once again for your exemplary reply.

One question in connection to this.

Shall a son try to save his parents from doing wrong things

          OR

Just focus on his sadhna and Krishna will take care of the parents automatically.

          Your SErvant

          Gaurav

please take care of Your parents Prabhuji!

But we should first know ourselves what is wrong and what is correct, isn't it?!

For example, our parents are spending money for meat, we say them once, twice to stop that. We request, we peach ...but even though they do not accept it then fool may force them to stop that by using physical force or other acts but intelligent person respects their free will. Sometimes mistakes are the best teachers, aren't they?

Even Krishna does not force us. He wants us to do serve to Him by our own desire.

So if we are enough intelligent we have to try to help to others to get desire to do right things. Your servant,
