I can't quote what exactly AC Bhaktivedanta Swami Maharaj said on this issue, for that you will find many other competent devotees here, I can guide you on what our sanatan dharma scripture says.
House warming (Griha Pravesh) has to be done on prescribed days as per almanac. As we follow Krishna Conscious way of life. So for us home is not our property its a Krishna Mandir so Dev Griha Pravesh or Dev Mandir Pravesh dates as per almanac can also be followed.
On that day we should enter the scantified home(preferably sanctified with Cow Dung or urine as that attracts Gopala) in the morning with thajurji, Do his sthapana in the room or alter identified for him and then do Griha pravesh yajna(preferably by Vaishanav Brahmin) on his name identifing him as the owner of the home , followed by Vaishnav yajna and atleast 1 prahar (3 hours) harinam (you can also have uday-asta, 3 prahar, 8 prahar or 24 prahar harinam as per your capability). You can also organize scripture path (like Srimad Bhagabad Gita, Srimad Bhagawatam, Ramayan, Ishopanishad etc) and distribute krishna prasad to all invited guests and vaishnavs.
One thing to keep in mind is shastra suggests that one needs to reside for a minimum of 3 consequyitive nights from the day of Griha Pravesh as part of that sanskar.
