Hallucination or Self Realization?

Hare Krishna All,

I happen to visit my childhood school friends and they insisted me to go for a lunch with them.

As usual I took even them to a jain Restaurant. After the order was placed They noticed everything was without Onion and Garlic but they happily accepted it. After Lunch they have habit of sipping Tea and I said no, on being offered a tea. They smiled at me and ordered hot milk for me. After I explained them about four regulative principles and how they would help us in spiritual realization, They gave their conclusion that what ever iam doing will lead me to Hallucination and not Spiritual Realization. Frankly speaking I follow all the regulative principles just to make sure I don't leave any stone unturned in spiritual progress, otherwise I never had any feeling of change from what I was before. Please share your views and experiences while following Vedic lifestyle. Have you felt any difference after changing food habits and life sytle? What made you strong in Krishna onsciousness.

Hare Krishna. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

4 regulative principles are necessary for Krishna consciousness.

However, simply following them alone will not lead neither to liberation (which we dont care much for) nor Love of Godhead, Sri Krishna.

Text Two

atyāhāraḥ prayāsaś ca

prajalpo niyamāgrahaḥ

jana-saṅgaś ca laulyaṁ ca

ṣaḍbhir bhaktir vinaśyati

Word for word:

ati-āhāraḥ — overeating or too much collecting; prayāsaḥ — over-endeavoring; ca — and; prajalpaḥ — idle talking; niyama — rules and regulations; āgrahaḥ – too much attachment to (or agrahaḥ – too much neglect of);jana-saṅgaḥ — association with worldly-minded persons; ca — and; laulyam — ardent longing or greed; ca — and;ṣaḍbhiḥ — by these six; bhaktiḥ — devotional service; vinaśyati — is destroyed.

Translation:

One’s devotional service is spoiled when he becomes too entangled in the following six activities: (1) eating more than necessary or collecting more funds than required; (2) over-endeavoring for mundane things that are very difﬁcult to obtain; (3) talking unnecessarily about mundane subject matters; (4) practicing the scriptural rules and regulations only for the sake of following them and not for the sake of spiritual advancement, or rejecting the rules and regulations of the scriptures and working independently or whimsically; (5) associating with worldly-minded persons who are not interested in Kṛṣṇa consciousness; and (6) being greedy for mundane achievements.

-Surrendering to Lord is possible, but its not likely for those who live comfort life, because comfort life, money and sex, affects mind of conditioned souls, even just by looking at them.

-Therefore vaishnavas are mainly pure, comparing to demigod worshipers, who desire comfort material life.

-The life of the devotee is usually full of material obstructions and difficulties, very often he is abandoned from society, parents, and friends. Such situations are Lords great merci .

-Thats why even celstials desire to take birth in Kaly yuga, being best yuga for bhagavad dharma.

-In such hopeless situation, devotee completely surrender to his only left hope, the Lord.

-Being attracted by hopeless surrendering, even materially motivated, Lord start to take care for devotee and their love and relationship increases.

-By divine experience of intensive devotional service, all material desires quickly vanish from the heart .

-In remembering dear Lord, devotees heart melts, hair stand on end and tears flow.

Such symptoms are impossible to hold or to control.

  SB 11.5.41 — O King, one who has given up all material duties and has taken full shelter of the lotus feet of Mukunda, who offers shelter to all, is not indebted to the demigods, great sages, ordinary living beings, relatives, friends, mankind or even one’s forefathers who have passed away. Since all such classes of living entities are part and parcel of the Supreme Lord, one who has surrendered to the Lord’s service has no need to serve such persons separately.
  
  SB 11.5.42 — One who has thus given up all other engagements and has taken full shelter at the lotus feet of Hari, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, is very dear to the Lord. Indeed, if such a surrendered soul accidentally commits some sinful activity, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, who is seated within everyone’s heart, immediately takes away the reaction to such sin.

  The science of Bhagavad Dharma explained here by Sri Narada muni its based on giving up or renunciation of
  
  religious duties and fully taking shelter at the Lotus feet of Lord.
  
  The same thing, Sri Krishna said to Arjuna :

  Bg 18.65 — Always think of Me, become My devotee, worship Me and offer your homage unto Me. Thus you will come to Me without fail. I promise you this because you are My very dear friend.
  
  Bg 18.66 — Abandon all varieties of religion and just surrender unto Me. I shall deliver you from all sinful reactions. Do not fear.

  Many people cant surrender, but rather take the path of religion with economic progress, which is a to slow spiritual progress. Such people usually suffer karma reactions and always wonder why the Lord didnt protect them.
  
  Without being helpless who can fully surrender.
  
  Without thinking on Lord, how can heart be melted.
  
  Without heart melting how hair can stand on end and tears flow.
  
  Without such symtoms how consciousness can be purified
