Gayatri mantra

All glories to Srila Prabhupada!
PAMHO
Dear devotees of the Lord, I was wondering: The gayatri mantra "Om bhūr bhuvaḥ svaḥtat savitur vareṇyaṃbhargo devasya dhimahi dhiyo yo naḥ pracodayat" is recited daily in India and is a very sacred and revered prayer. I've heard it's a mantra to connect with our inner light and the sunlight, and Lord Krishna says in the Bhagavad Gita: "Of all the mantras, I am the Gayatri".
Can be this mantra sung before or shortly after sunrise every day, meditating in the light of the Lord´s body?

I also heard that the Hare Krishna Maha Mantra is supreme amongst all Mantras. It is gayatri equal to hare krishna ? It is an offense to chant the gayatri? Can I meditate on it daily? Can I visualize the shape of the body of God and rays of golden light coming from him? Thank you very much!

    Hare KRsna Prabhuji,

    PAMHO.

When you have what is the MAHAMANTRA, then why to go for any other mantra? WHat is stopping you for meditating on the light coming from Krsna while chanting the mahamantra.

Gayatri mantra is given in ISKCON at the time of second initiation. I would suggest wait till you reach that stage.

However, it is not an offence to chant the gayatri mantra per se. It simply shows that you do not have complete faith in the mahamantra, thats why you are taking the shelter of other mantras to achieve the same goals. In that sense, it attracts the 10th offence. Otherwise, you want to chant, you chant.

Am simply telling you whats coming to mind immediately after reading your post.

    Haribol,

    Your servant,

    Rashmi
