Hare Krishna to all the mataji's and Prabhu ji's reading this post. I am a young 19 year old female devotee of lord, however I'm not dikshit as of now. I belong to a non devotee family. I have been asked by my mother several times to stop doing ekadashi vrata , she says that only married women's can do so. I truly do not believe this though but I want to ask this question to all the mataji's and prabhuji's Is it really true that one has to get married to keep ekadashi vratas? My mother said that only people who are from iskcon they can keep ekadashi vratas even if they are unmarried.
Please answer my question, i would be really grateful to all.

Hare Krishna mataji
It is not that only married women can keep ekadashi fast, it is not Karvachauth. And everyone should keep ekadashi fast, even if not from iskcon.
It is mentioned in shastra thst ekadashi fast is very important. You can easily do it by eating fruits, milk, fry fuits, etc. Just try to avoid grains and hear/read/chant about lord krishna as much as possible.
Avoid grains at all costs! It is said that there is paap-purush who punishes sinners and is emboidment of sin , lives in grains on ekadashi.
PAMHO!!!
Thank you so much Prabhuji for clearing my doubt. Your explanation really helps me understand the importance of Ekadashi fasting better.

Hare Krishna Mataji,
I am sorry to say but your mother is ignorant of the vrat and its importance. Maybe, she just wants her daughter to be not fasting so much. You know mothers are scared of child's health.
But then, Ekadashi vrat is to be done by all souls.- whether married , unmarried, whether belong to iskcon or belong to any other institution, regardless of any situation or circumstances.
Hare Krishna.
Hare Krishna Mataji, thank you for sharing your thoughts on this. You are right, mothers always worry about our health, but I will try my best to follow the Ekadashi vrat properly.
Hari bol.
