    Hare KRsna Prabhuji,

    PAMHO.

On the day of devotion, we fast so that we are not concerned with mundane activities of eating sleeping mating and defending on those days. We can concentrate on our devotional activities. If you notice, the act of cooking prasadam and feeding is an important activity for matajis and takes a lot of their time and effort. On days of devotion, the concept is that one shoudl be so absorbed in God and His pastimes taht one does not waste a single moment. Thats why its designed to fast so taht matajis can also engage in some more devotional activities that day.

    Haribol,

    Rashmi
